| I know they have to rescrew and tighten and do a bit of general spannering on the Mechano when they bolt bones back together. I've got a mate with some kind of long metal pin that they regrew his arm bone around and then left it in there. Had some scaffolding all bolted on for a while that needed occasional spannering. He sets off security metal detectors and shit sometimes now. Apparently looks cool on x-rays.
I had a finger tore off some years ago in a bike accident and they managed to put it back on by sewing it on and drilling a hole down the middle of it and inserting a long stiff wire that stuck out the end and made the bone regrow around the wire. Then one day at a checkup the doc just yanked the wire right out the end of my finger with some standard pliers. I didn't even know he was going to do it.
It all apparently worked OK because my finger bone grew back (although I do have a stiff finger now), but the funny part is now I have a sort of permanent Mr Spok "live long and prosper" hand where the fingers are parted in the middle because the busted one sort of goes off at a slight angle.
By the time my hand was released from the hand scaffolding and I noticed the finger was crooked there was nothing that could be done because it was all healed up now. It doesn't actually hinder anything, it's just sort of funny.
I trust they'll not leave you with a wonky leg and interesting limp.
