Or am i misunderstanding something? If you were a terrible awful criminal you could have a mate in the uk register the bike in his name at his uk address simply by filling in the V5 with his details and posting it off to the DVLA (address written on the v5), of course fines for anything illegal you did such as speeding would go straight to him.
If you want to see if it's stolen, make sure the numbers match the ones on the V5, and if you want to you can pay a small fee to have a hpi check done. Plenty of websites, and maybe eben ebay offer this service.
