Is tin foil petrol.resistant.........?...

Hi all.
When rebuilding the carbs for the 10th time i noticed the little gauze filter with a tiny o-ring fitted had become loose in 3 ov the 4 carbs...
So i cut a wee thin strip ov tin foil and wrapped the gauze holder to take up the gap that the o-ring usually closes up...

Will this be a suitable fix?
Will it disintegrate over time?
