...have to admit feeling like I should have seen that one, what with it being so simple and obvious, but now it's all too late. I have money and effort in a brass fuel tap that I absolutely MUST fit even if it means drilling a whacking great hole in my frame or something.

At some point tomorrow I'll be in the lockup with a hammer in one hand and a beer in the other squinting at my petrol tank and formulating even more ways to use the brass failtap I've already bought. I simply can NOT let the damned thing defeat me.

I'm not saying it will definitely be a fuel tap, but I'm determined to use the bastard thing for SOMETHING.
