I dont like direct drive as you either have to slip the clutch lots at slow speeds or screem the tits off it at motorway speeds both are shit things I think and do nothing for mechanical life or fuel econamy.
In the 325 car that engine will pull 130mph and is still happy cos it has an overdrive top gear, I dont really need to do those speeds and I'm not bothered but it would be nice to do 80 at 2500rpm which is what the car manages.
I have been looking at the gear box that comes with that engine. Most of it is bell housing so if I hacked that off and if it was mounted behind the engine it would not make it too long. and It would have the gear ratios right too which is a bonus. only trouble is the shift gate I was thinking that the foot could do forwards and backwards motion of the gear stick and a knee thing could do the side to side in the neutral position. either that or scuicide shift which sucks too.
