You should have kept them. Who knows? If you left them behind, after you "joined the landfill," someone would have them published and your poems would be discussed in English classes!!! You need to express yourself on paper again, whether in poems or drawing, and have it published/displayed.
The artist is still hidden in me; my stick-men don't even turn out right. My students ask, "what is that?" I am serious.
Get that notebook out and write those poems and haikus down.
