Hi Julia, I think cruising in the Americas is one of the saffest modes of travel there is and you will have a blast.
Are you flying to Fort Lauderdal to catch your ship or are you coastal sailing from Baltimore? Are you staying on any of the islands? Nothing beats good fresh sea food and Bahama Mamas are great. If you get the chance, go on a dolphin experience. The beaches are great and there is some great SCUBA and snorkeling. I hope you have good weather.
We went during the summer. We drove. We spent a few days in Orlando, took Christina to do all of the kid stuff, Disney, Universal, and etc; then, we spent a couple days in Fort Lauderdale and caught our ship.
