Cheryl Sykes? She lived here until 5th grade, and then her family moved to Roanoke where she still lives today. I saw her tonight at the funeral home at the services for Darrell (Shifty) Powers, who was part of "The Band of Brothers" story that a book was written about, and then produced as a movie by Tom Hanks and Steven Speilburg. Mr. Powers had quiet a story to tell. Someone wrote about him on the Clintwood Connection, and there was a good article about him in the Dickenson Star a few years ago. If you go to the Mullins Funeral Home site, you can view the video tribute on him, and see some of the pictures from his past. He was from Clinchco and had 2 children, Wayne and Margo, who were pretty close in age to us, but went to Ervinton. Mr. Powers was Cheryl's uncle. I'd say that Robert, Henry and Jenni remember her, and probably others too. She looks good, and I was glad that I got the opportunity to see her.
