Response to Thanks AGAIN!

Ok, Hydrogen Peroxide is necessary for most bleach solutions. There are a few that work on amino acids, or certain enzymes, but they are reserved for licensed hairdressers. Anything you will be able to purchase at the store, or beauty supply will be powdered/cream/liquid bleach that you will add peroxide too. The peroxide may also be referred to as the developer, catalyst, or "Bottle #2" which I personally hate. In order for bleach to be active, it must be in a liquid form, and developer adds strength. This is where the "volume" comes in, or "percentage", as you might have heard, 20 volume, or 6%. What you use on cuts is usually referred to as 3%, or 10 volume. Does that help? if I made it too confusing, let me know, it's hard to know how much to say!!

If you want to find more natural products for your hair, try word of mouth. You can ask friends, or at your local health food store if they recomend any salons in the area. I manage an Aveda salon, and you can type your zip code into a spot on the web sight. That will link you to the address of the closest Aveda salon. HOWEVER, Aveda does NOT make a color without PPD, nor are they planning on releasing it soon, no matter what they tell you. They are trying to formulate one, that is where it has been for a long time. You need to not use any of the very dark make up from Aveda, and please check the ingredients of any makeup before they apply it!

We all take the same classes, and Aveda has some really amazing people, so I am not in any way trying to insult the company. They have a good line of products, and the color works well for our other clients as of this moment. We are looking for PPD free lines every day, and for more natural products. We have found things that we like, but they have not been able to be efficient for us. (Too hard to ship, or keep in stock, or better for fine hair, but not very thick) So, we keep searching.

So, I hope this helps some, and let me know if it doesn't!

Gina
