I read a rapport (I think it was Swedish) where they'd measured the amount of chemicals found on various items in hairsalons.
And traces were found everywhere, even on the phone, the pencils and so on.
(The rapport was made so that hairdressers would become aware of the dangers to them and realize the need to use gloves.)
So I suppose it's possible that those trace-amounts could be triggering the allergy.
And on a side-note, I still don't get why they warn about dark clothing. Since it says that PPD becomes non-sensitizing after 48 hours when it oxidizes.
It's not like clothes, plastic things etc. where made 48 hrs before whe use them.
My guess is that those reacting to dark clothing are allergic to something more than the PPD.
(But I do wash new dark clothes 3 times before wearing them, just to be on the safe side

)
