In the past year I started experiencing itching, burning scalp so I did a patch test and a few hours later I started having random itching just little itches here and there all over my body, like a little itch on the top of my foot, then my neck, my back, my chest, my wrist, my ankle leg, top of my hand here and there steady. The next day the same thing was going on, then I could feel it in the crease of my elbow where I had patch tested myself. I thought I was just making it up in my head so I tried to pay no attention, but when the itching increased in my testing spot I looked at it and it was all red, with raised little bumps everywhere the dye had been (crazy thing is I did 2 tests at the same time and the other one did not react the same way) needless to say I know I am allergic, my question now is has anyone here ever tried, Eco color, or Yo color?
I have check with some high tech hairstylist in CA. and NY who have Green Hair Salons and they are telling me it works great on patrons who are allergic to PPD. Some of these sylist have the allergy themselves and say it is fantastic.
I was told to do a patch test wait 72hrs, then do 2 more to be certain before applying it to my head. Eco color has 3 shades which contain NO ppd, and yo color is supposed to be even better, having yogurt and milk purities in them.
You can google them eco color and yo color, they sound great but I am still scared. If anyone here has tried these formulas could you please email me your experience. lachick1962@yahoo.ca I would kindly appreciate it.

I heard alot about Henna All Natural.

I'm scared too. I woke up looking like the elephant man with pus running down my face. So, I'm definitely afraid....but the gray is coming in so fast and I need to do something.

Hello, I received my Eco color free patch test in black and I did react to the product after 2 days. I was really bummed, because I thought it would work. I too have had severe allergic reactions to the over the counter hair colors and am at my wits end...so I definitely advise testing the product. Good luck.

How did you do your patch test? Did you do it over a period of 2 days. What was the reaction?
I have not used the Eco color, as I too did a patch test and started itching, but I did one the other day skin showed no reaction, but I had some random itching.

I do know that when it is hot out it is worse and when it is my time of the month. I tried a product here twice called Herbetint and it was fine, although I did not put it on my scalp, I left it off a bit.

I am still scared. I can't believe I worked in hair color, my favorite thing to do all these years and now I have this trouble. I will see a Dermatologist next month, not sure what he will do.

Have you been tested for allergies to these products, do you know what you are allergic to?

I don't think I will try the eco color, not sure yet. The color I have here is blond. Now there is 2% PPD in that color because it is so dark, ( I talked to the company that is how I know) There is not that in the blond colors but there is 3% peroxide in the developer, I think that is what I am allergic too.

Where do you live? Maybe I can find a place where you can buy Herbetint...there is no PPD but there is 2-3% peroxide, when I used it i kept it OFF my scalp.

Herbatint has PPD, and PTD, which most people who are truely allergic to PPD are also allergic to as well. eco colors also are PPD colors. You can try Wella, they have Touline diamine sulfate, or TDS, which has a much better rate if allergy, from 30 to 50% to 3%. It is also a product that you can find in sally's beauty supply nationwide, or in professional salons. If you want to try a vegan product,I recoment Act Natural. It is superb, and is a great company.

If you have not been tested, you can go to an alletgist, or dermatologist in your area. try to find one who has some experiance in PPD testing.

good luck,

Gina
