Has anyone tried this new product by Schwartzkof? It covers 60 % grey, and is PPD free!!! Apparently instead of the colour being held in by PPD, it is substituted for by beeswax.

I'm not so sure about this product. About a month ago, my hairdresser let me know about it. While I was there for a cut she called to find out if it contained PPD. The rep said something about it containing PTD and/or a derivative of PPD and if I reacted to PPD it's very likely I'd have a reaction to the product. I decided to hold off on trying it (even if I'd be starting with a patch test).
Please let us know if you get any more info on it..

I'm not sure which Schwartzkopf product you are looking into, but the hair dye that gave me my reaction was Schwartzkopf Igora Royal 6.5 and 6.0. It has PTD (p-toluenediamine) in it. PTD is not the same as PPD, but is related and does cross react with PPD. On my TRUE TEST info it said that people allergic to PPD may also react to PTD. I think Gina knows about PTD and other related things to PPD. Maybe she can help.

Nope, don't try it. PTD is too close, and you will react. you need to wait for TDS, Touline diamine sulfate. The reason they are switching, is so that people are less likely to get the allergy in the first place, because eventually, everyone can become sensative. SURPRISE!! Betcha didn't know that- it's the industry's biggest secret...
