I often wonder if anyone else has a Cloud Corner in their classroom? I don't make a big thing of mine, but occasionally I'll use one of the photos to illustrate something or I'll use one of the similes around the pictures to describe the present weather.
The children pass it many times a day as they go in and out of the door and they track the daily weather on the very simple weather recorder I inherited from the previous teacher in that room. Maybe familiarity breeds contempt to some extent, but I also believe that we absorb a lot more of our familiar background than we realise - and children, particularly, notice a lot more than we sometimes give them credit for!
