no definitive answer

Hi

There is no 'official' size needed for an afghan. Babies come in all sizes and so afghans of all sizes are needed.

An afghan roughly 30 x 30 inches square can be used for average newborn sized babies. They work well as coverlets or to wrap the baby in.

Smaller sizes have many purposes ranging from use for small preemies thru using as covers when larger sized afghans would be too bulky.

Crib size afghans that would lay flat ina crib would be roughly 30 by 45 inches.

Large afghans can be used longer and/or for larger babies.

I know this is a vague answer but it probably answers why you can't find a definitive size to make for babies.

I'd suggest checking with wherever you plan to donate the afghan to see what size they most need.
