Judy,
I've been a councillor for five years now. This particular election will introduce a term of three years, and I think this will be the last term for me, assuming I get in, that is.
I am lucky in that I stand in a fairly safe ward (although before I took it in 1995 it was a Tory seat.
The big question is going to be who takes control of the council, and of course, because it is the mid-term of a Labour government, that introduces an automatic bias, because people tend to vote against the party that's in power.
Anyway, I am going to forget all this, and am going down to London tomorrow to stay with a friend of mine. I have been warned to expect quite a strenuous weekend of drinking and music!
It sounds like just what I need!
Anyway, Judy, I'll catch you when I get back on Sunday.
