... the parts about getting the ballots from someone at a table, having them cross of one's name on a printout, going into a little cardboard booth to vote, etc. Only we punch little holes in the ballot card, then drop the ballot in the box, and the cards are read by computer.
I don't know the procedure for when someone wants a recount.
Our own mayor is in the papers again today for more corruption - apparently he struck a deal with one of the major newspaper publishers here, where the publisher agreed to give him favorable coverage on the op-ed page in exchange for the mayor opposing the sale of his paper to the other major paper.
The publisher actually blurted this out in a court hearing, after which he was fired yesteday by his bosses. He now claims he didn't know what he was saying, was just tired and confused at the hearing, and didn't really do what he said he did.
The Mayor of course will deny the deal was made - just like he denies all the shady deals he's been involved in for the past 35 years.
