I realise, of course, that there were originally 3 stories, but since you sold one of them to Harlan Ellison for _The Last Dangerous Visions_, we wonder if that one is still taken? Not to say we wouldn't want to look at it if it's available for publication.

The supposed conventionality of these stories is not (as I indicated earlier) an impediment to our acceptance. It wasn't your experiments with non-linear narrative that made your stories in _The Eye of the Lens_ memorable. Such features seem more a personal mannerism.

Personally, I've always admired the power and precision of your prose most of all.

I've just spoken to the editor of the magazine, and he says if you can be quick, he'll hold the presses on the magazine for one of your stories. I cautioned him that you aren't sure yet of their whereabouts.

The editor is, by the way, enthusiastic about the possibility of publishing some of your work.
