We just finished helping a month ago a baby with cancer called David. He recieved a prayer shawl for his Mom, a warm afghan for him, a sweet TY beanie baby teddy, clothing, shoes and socks for him and lots of prayers.
There are many more like David - not all of them have cancer, but they are cold and need warm clothing. No matter what is on sale - there is a need for it so if you see a wonderful sale like things for $10 on sale for $1 - go ahead and buy them and send them to www.ReliefShare.org they will be put to good use.
I love to take suburban loads of donations to Shriner's and enjoy seeing the tiny patients receiving them. It makes my day a lot happier to see tears change to smiles in lives we consider tragic.
What amazes me is seeing the happiness and joy on the faces of the children who are undergoing very painful medical procedures - they simply don't know that life doesn't have to be that hard! All it takes is a teddy bear or dolls or soft cuddly blanket to make their day a lot better.
I also took some baby dolls to the old folks home and loved to see the cuddling the babies are getting. If anyone here on the list has reborns they would like to see go to the old folks home, please send them. We all have boo-boos that we don't consider worth sending to ebay, but the old folks love to hug and cuddle them.
Hugs
Carol
