Here I was, thinking I was remembering early 2E rules, when in fact I'm a 1E relic!
When I was playing you had several flavors of dragons, and age young to ancient, 3 breaths per day. Draw out those three breaths, and how easy they fall. That WAS too easy, but 3E sounds like overcompensation.
One of my favorite characters was from a Dragon magazine, you know, one of those "these are for use as NPCs only -- but the players clamor to play them".
In our realm we had another class that I designed myself. I called it the "Warrior Priest" and it had almost no healing/soft spells but a fair amount of 'buffs', such that an buffed 'WP' was probably a tad better than a fighter, and an unbuffed one a good bit weaker. It was well balanced.
So tnx, no I really feel old :P
