Response to Too much "freedom"
"The education system needs to focus more on what's good for ALL and not just the individual cases bceause when they do that they miss the forest for the trees, and the forest is what matters the most."
This is a rather odd statement in the context of the rest of your post. In fact, it seems to be a total non sequitur. First, you talk about how it sucks that smart kids (yourself included) were bored in a class that had to explain stuff to everyone at their speed (slow as molasses). Then you come up with this? Have I missed something? Which is the forest and which the trees?
As for the concept of being completely airy fairy about things, (grief councellors and whatnot) I couldn't agree more. But the idea that we should reintroduce corporal punishment or bring in harsh grading standards to weed out the weak? Not so sure I agree with you there. Challenges, yes. More focus on testing and grading? Not my idea of an improvement.
