I would call Hamas radical, and Al Qaeda reactionary.

Do you see why?

I for one appreciate your point on considering the difference between reactionary and radical. I'd guess that usage is so muddy these days that much discourse mislabels various and sundry extremist groups sloppily in the media and elsewhere.

I'd call MeChA radical: there is no actual state of being to go back to, whereas the KKK has an idealized condition to look back upon, and is thus reactionary.

If they keep looking into their rear view mirrors, how the hell do they ever see where they are headed? As in, to history's scrap heap.
