but I was combo bartender/cook at a seedy little dive while I was in college for about three months
Then "Thank you, please drive through" was more applicable to me, my first paying job was selling tickets at a drive-in, as in movies, not food. It wasn't too bad for a first job, except that they paid even less than minimum wage.
some of your posts are actually funny, but you could try to be a tad less biting in some of your jabs
I do pull my punches (am i using this phrase right?), except in the case of people who IMO are, um, obnoxious. Can you see that I would consider some of your posts obnoxious? (Mine are, too, I realize.) True, you're not the only one, but throw in the fact that our politics (hey, this is a political post now!) differ and I have a hard time biting my tongue. (Actually it's easy, it's the damn typing fingers I can't control.)
My main prob is that I try to combat what I see as obnoxious bullying with obnoxious bullying. I am a slow learner in that I never remember that my method is pretty much never effective, not in my memory.
me me me me this is cheaper than therapy me me me
As for funny, I am never funny. Some experts have told me so. (Anyone who considers themselves as funny is 99.9% likely to be wrong.)
Me, I wish I was better at the jokes, but then again some readers probably laugh at most of my posts without me trying to be funny anyway.
AHA! Self-! uh, self-depredation! no,.. self-defecation! no, .. self-mutilation! no, .. self-flagellation! no, probably not.. self-deprecation!! that's it. Self-deprecation is a fine thing if it's a sign of humility (as opposed to self-pity). Part of why the "debates" in this forums are good for me is that they usually result in my getting "humbled" in one way or another. Few things more effective in the humility department than somebody incontrovertibly disproving your printed words. At which point you can either smile, light a candle and move on less unenlightened, or curse the darkness of your own ignorance.
On a hopefully final note, the reason I picked your post "I'm confused" as a model for the "improved" "Dum dee" is that it was the post I remembered the most, it being fairly recent. It wasn't fair to pick you out of the crowd, and for that I apologize for causing you offense. The "not political" part was not random, as you know- i added it just before i submitted because i realized that "hey, this is a political post, but O might dispute that". I almost put a wink to soften the impact, but decided it would be too distracting for the true "targets" of the post (the gung-ho anti-spam-guards).
So what two places are better?
Hmm, well "better" is subjective, but I'm in a group of people who've been together about five or six years, and they have a forum. But it's pretty slow these days. The other place is the LL, not necessarily "better" but more likely to get my D questions answered, and more likely to be visited by Jarulf and Crystalion, the gods of Diablo knowledge.
