Shana Abe & Historical Accuracy

I noticed that Rose like Shana Abe. I can't get past all of her historical inaccuracies to begin to appreciate her books. What do you guys think? Is historical accuracy important? How much do you like?

Historical accuracy

April 1 2001, 6:03 PM

well, I must confess I haven't read Shana Abe yet but I have to admit that I tend to love books that are historically accurate.
Major historical errors distract me from the main storyline and usually I give up finishing the book. An historical romance should be a fiction story in real and believable background.
Well at least that is what I like... Feel free to disagree.

Historical Accuracy

I enjoy accurate historical description as well as proper grammatical language. Obviously we might be unable to read old or middle english, but what irks me at times is finding slang terms are being used that didn't exist in medieval times. I'm not talking about any author in particular, just something I have noticed from time to time.

There are alot of great authors out there who write accurately of history and customs. If you can track any of these down, it would be very rewarding read, I promise!

Susan Wiggs's The Lily and the Leopard (King Henry V)
Joan Wolf's Road to Avalon (King Arthur)
Roberta Gellis (Roselynde series)
Anya Seton
Jean Plaidy (AKA Victoria Holt)
