Rancho Del Pueblo in the San Jose reminds me of the first golf course my Dad took me to play....Golden Gate Golf Course in SF. A lot of other Dads and Moms in the San Jose area are doing the same thing. They are introducing their sons and daughters to golf many of which participate in the First Tee Program at Rancho.
Rancho Del Pueblo used to be the Thunderbird Golf Course that you would see along U.S. 101 driving through San Jose near Storey Road.
The City of San Jose, due to budget issues, is faced with making a tough decision about whether to continue the operation at Rancho in the red or repurpose the property to a park or another sports complex.
I am interested in your thoughts about where you learned to play golf (was it a 9 hole golf course somewhere), the impact on the community when a course is closed, the value of 9 holes golf courses, and having a short yardage golf course available for youngsters learning the game and organizations like the First Tee Program.
