I received a Grant from CDC and DESE to enhance HIV Prevention Education for our students. I am looking for a Deaf person, HIV positive to do a presentation for our students about their experiences and help our students understand the impact of HIV and why it is important to prevent it.
There is Grant money alloted to pay that person for their presentation but it is limited by the Grant. It is not enough to pay for plane tickets and a hotel room but a person that is close to Missouri School for the Deaf and that is willing to stay on campus would be great. My idea was for an assembly type program for our middle school and high school students probably sometime in Feb or March 2005 but if you know anyone that would be willing to present to our students, I will be glad to work with them on the specifics. The Grant ends March 31.
If anyone knows of a person that would be interested in doing this, please have that person contact me at Missouri School for the Deaf. My email address is sanderson@msd.k12.mo.us My phone number is (573) 592-2548. I am Supervisor for the Health Center at MSD.
