The new board

by SpacePirateCaine

Okey dokey - first order of business is to apologise to all involved for the ridiculous amount of time it took for me to get this new board made. I'll give the usual excuses - I'm in my last year of University, working on making sure that it really is my last year. Reports galore, and there's a whole lot of Real Life out there that tends to get in the way, too. Regardless, thanks to Majin's nudging, I got up off my lazy ass and made a new Board on proboards. I'm also looking into getting a board setup on my own server, which does support php.

Until I get that one ready, however, gmca.proboards77.com is our temporary home. When it is ready, I'll do what I can to import everything from the temporary one onto the new, new, new one.

Second order of business is to apologise for being unable to salvage anything from the Lensmen board. If anyone has any of that backed up, please post it on the new board - I believe one of us was archiving GMCA Live.

Arr. See y'all on the new board.

I've been getting nothing but error messages trying to get to it for about a damn week now... Is it out of its mind like this one was, or is it toast? Either way, a Bad Thing.

Man, it feels like it's been forever since I posted something around you guys...

by Majin

...And even longer since I even checked here. Yes, I'm alive. I know I wasn't very active before the board went bye-bye, but I was and am still around. And I'm busy working on what, from the looks of things both prior to now and at what I still need to do, will be a 15 year bachelors degree plan.

And to take a little time to gloat (and be way off topic), I was in the second wave of invites for City of Villains (which is now in it's pre-order invite stage), and due to both "bad gaming habits" (alt-oholism) and RL, I haven't a single character above 5 in it.

I am sorry to announce that the other board is, indeed, kaput. I'm looking into whether the stuff on it can be recovered, but Dave lost the lensmen server, and our board with it. I'll try to get it back and keep you all posted here. Sorry I took so long to bring this up.

GMCA Live! (As it happens, if it happens)

by

For those of you who haven't headed in the direction of the new message board yet, you may not have noticed that there is a project currently on the proverbial drawing board, tentatively called *GMCA Live!*. The basic premise is a method of simplifying the writing process in a less-important sort of scene that takes place in the GMCA.

The first GMCA Live! project is a 'Fight-night party'. All fighters, non-fighters, and otherwise are invited to a get-together in the area of the Blue Gecko bar and grill to chat it up before the blood starts flying.

This Message board is also looking like it's near death, since we moved to SpacePirateTytan's Lensman server, with it's pretty new shiny message board, which he and I are also working on sprucing up (Look for a big ka-bang soon). This can all be found at:

http://lensmen.net/gmca_board/

Head on over, yo. And if you aren't already a member, sign up!

MB

by

Hey, all. It's me again, doing stuff that I don't need to do, and most of you probably wish I wouldn't. Heh. I was chatting with my buddy, Dave, (Space Pirate Tytan) who originally introduced me to the GMCA. He was wondering if we still existed at all, and I showed him to this Message board.

He called it a Fong, or something like that, and proceeded to throw together a new, pretty, technologically advanced MB for free on his webspace.

http://www.lensmen.net/gmca_board

Now, like the old char selector I made back in the Spring, this is at the moment very unofficial. I just thought that if nobody's particularly attached to this board, and yearn for a pretty, shiny new board with icons and usernames and other pretty baubles attached to it, it's up. Feel free to jump on and take a look, send a message to me should you be interested (SpacePirateCaine, I should be listed with KirinDave as an Admin).

The board there is pretty customizable, as well, and with the exception of Wednesday, whereupon I shall be aboard a plane traversing the Pacific ocean, I intend to spend a week or so exploring the possibilities this presents us.

Now, if you're uninterested, that works too, as it was completely free and can be gotten rid of just as easily as it was made. Dave has also offered 50 megs of free webspace to us. I might make an unofficial GMCA fan page or something like that as well. Anyway, I hope I'm not stepping on anyone's toes, I just thought that in it's current state, our beloved GMCA is getting a little stagnant, and the retirement of Epsilon has made me want to get off of my tuchus and get the GMCA moving more than even before. And if a cosmetic change can motivate people even in the slightest, I say go for it.

So there you have it. Expect me to continue doing unsolicited things in the future as well. In a way, think of it as a christmas present from Dave and I to the rest of the GMCA. Whether it's like a new PSX or a Polka-dotted necktie is up to you all.

I'm more than happy to lend a little bit of my resources to your cause. If anyone has some kind of dream bulletin board software they'd rather run INSTEAD of that bboard, let me know and I can snuffle around and see if it's reasonable to use.

This place seems to be slowly dying off, little by little. That's no good, this place has a fun and interesting idea. If by giving you guys some shiny new togs to march around in, I can up the enthusiasm level and resource level, that'd be great.

I'm cheerfully willing to lend you folks what you need to make your needs come true. :)

SOLD!

by Jonatan, FTES operative #431

I say we definitely take you guys up on the offer. Given how La Cosa Network54 breathes down our backs ("Wouldn't it be terrible if something were to... happen to your nice board?") and given that this new place looks plenty enough times nicer, I say we do the move.

Most gracious kudos to you, Caine, for your initiative. Same to you, Tytan, and greetings. This place is usually a lot of fun, as long as the people aren't absent all the time.

So, yeah. Unless anyone voice their objections too loudly, we'll move, yea? Anyone against?

I'm also interested in hearing more of the offer for webspace, particularily since Angelfire is getting overly ambitious with their ads. Is it a private server, or what are the specs?

A board that WORKS.

The reason I've been silent lately is because I haven't even been able to get on this damn board for a while now. Yech.

Let's just not lose this board... there's a few things on it that need to be archived (like the Whose Line threads) before EVILNetwork54 takes it away.

Now, I must reread my opponents' movelists, so I can plan some more of our match...

Kendou-ka

by

Neat, another swordsman. I'll have to add a new glitch to Caine's profile. Interestingly enough, both Batsu and Caine have 'chuudan' stances, though Caine opts for the battou stance instead of joudan. I think the GMCA has characters that run the whole gamut of kendo techniques (Sure, Caine's is a little ...eccentric, but it's still kenjutsu).

Arr. I likes.

Yo.

I'm still alive and kicking, as it were, and I've been in touch with yon (\/)ajin on a frequent basis on ICQ. I can't offer much new on the status of our fight, but it's at least around 1/4 done, as I spent some time smearing my own unique style of artistic jelly on it last spring (God, that's a long time).

So at the very least I know you can keep me on the 'living' list. I actually check this board almost daily, though there's rarely much new to read/respond to, so I don't do much other than 'click' in, say "Nope, nothing new today either" then 'click' out to read webcomics or some other such thing.

I kinda miss the live GMCA, really. I think I'll log into the chat server and sit there idly for a while. Hmm.'

...I'll be leaving for Disney World with my parents tomorrow. Don't expect to hear anything from me until a week from Sunday.

Also, my computer is down still so anything I had pertaining to the S n' L/2 Stooges fight prior to Caine's most recent e-mail is currently in accessable as is the stuff for the RPG (which may be backed up somewhere).

See you in two weeks.

Got it off Usenet.

by

While the story seems like it might be interesting, the gameplay isn't anything special. I could e-mail it to you, if you like. Or, if several people want it, I suppose I could upload it to my webspace for a little while.

Oh, and I wouldn't mind this being used for deciding a few matches meself (not the whole tourney mind you).

Arr?

by

I was just sitting here, thinking about studying for my midterms when my newer "Shut up and Bleed" remix came up on my MP3 playlist, and I thought: I wonder if anyone's posted on the GMCA board recently?

I check about once a week, but it's been a while. It's almost Summer break for me, and I seem to remember sending my section of the SnL vs. The Two Stooges match right around last Spring break. It's been a whole season since the last real progress I've made. I've been working on my comic book, and composing music, and doing sketches here and there, but there's been a decided lack of GMCA-type work for me recently, and I was wondering:

Has anyone actually finished a fight yet?

My guess is no, but it seems worth asking. That, and I was starting to get lonely seeing the message board untouched for so long. I've even had enough time to design entire webpages since I remember hearing from anyone here. That almost scares me.

Well...

by NeoVid

My lack of computer access has been screwing me as usual. I've thought of getting some damn work done on our scene, but there's one thing besides lack of time getting in the way: that part of the scene you did was sent in an attachment that doesn't work right for me. If you could send it again, but just in a plain ol' email, I'll get to work.

Scene pieces

by

Be glad to send the scene along to ya normally. I'm hardly trying to force people to work on it - nothing good comes of stress - but it'd be cool to see some changes on the stories page, aye?

I'll just dig it out of my hard drive, and hope it wasn't corrupted like a bunch of my other files were recently. I think my computer has a virus, but none of the virus scanners I've checked have found anything. It even killed Outlook Express. I'm gonna backup everything and reformat my computer during summer break.

Oh, and good news -- at least for me --, I've finished my tests, so except for a pair of reports I have to take to my University, I'm on break! Woo-Hoo!

Does the pirate dance

Speaking for KaP, Sci & Tech

by Reader in Geneva

Has anyone actually finished a fight yet?

As a matter of fact, the Knowledge and Power/Science and Technology matchup has been done for some time now, complete with commentary. The only thing left last time I checked was a few corrections to accomadate Replica's changing movelist.

I'm working on that one, really.

by

I've been busy with paid labor, but since I have a cold today, I might just sit down and get this done.

Other than that, the fight's been done for over a year. I just didn't want to put it up before all intros were done.

Attempting to renew interest in the GMCACRPG...

by Majin

I have posted something important on the GMCACRPG board in an attempt to revive the project, if you want to be involved in any way at all, even if it's just with allowing a character you have involved somewhere in either tournament or if you have experience with RPGM2K and want to help with the design or even want to do art for the project, please read the top most post, and probably the rest of the board. The link to the front of the board is below...
