Look at the scores and standings it shows that any team can win on any given day with of course the exception of North Central. Markham and SCC have beaten YSE, Markham won to Barrie, SCC beat A/P and Kingston. SCC was slaughtered by Clarington and Quinte. Quinte slaughtered Pete's but Pete's tied YSE, etc etc. There is still half a season left which means it is way to early to say who will be top and who will be toilet bowl.

Please! Please! Pay attention to this team. With the best coach in the OMHA, a top forward in the league and probably the most talented goalie around they will only show there true colours as time progresses.

The shots were fairly even in the game between Waxers and SCC - a bounce here and a bounce there could have been a different outcome. Who cares though, really? Just relax and enjoy the development of the teams (and all). Both SCC and Waxers teams have showed upside. Waxers getting the nod for consistency & discipline, with some seperation between YSE (#1) and Barrie (#2) as far as skill level. Non parent coaches in Barrie make them dangerous in the regular season as they roll #14, #17, #10 every second shift. Come playoffs, anything can happen when intensity and physical play throughout 15 skaters matters. Barrie will be a one line team to have any success which will be easier to shut focus on and shut down.

I think you mean 14, 17 an 2, not 10 and they are doing that due to injuries, once 9 comes back they will have two really strong lines putting 9 with either of the three above, so Barrie will not be so easy to shutdown like you think...

Shots were even? You must have been watching another game. SCC could barely make a pass to their own teammate let alone take a shot on net, SCC hardly got out of their own end.

For safety SCC decided that shooting can be dangerous to their opponents and passing in traffic is bad too.

So who wants to predicate the outcome of Markham vs. Barrie on Sunday and Markham vs. SCC on Monday? I'll go first:

Barrie will win 6-1. 0-0 after 1st, Markham will score 1st goal of game in 2nd, answered immediately by Barrie who will then finish the second period with 2 and hammer in 4 more in the third.

SCC and Markham will tie 3-3. Markham will think they have won-and be dumbfounded that they may add another 2 points thus causing them to slack off-with seconds remaining and SCC will remember that it is OK, in fact a requirement in hockey, that they take more then 5 shots on the net thus tying the game.

Actually last game against Markham SCC had more then 5 shots, most of the shots were missed attempts to ice the puck. So markham and barrie can worry about their series and forget SCC.

The outcome of the SCC game will all depend on whether 77 ever passes the puck and who they put have in net

Outcome of any SCC game will be dependant on the entire team remembering that there is no 'I' in TEAM. But hey, what do I know? That could happen, as I look at the scores and see that they have beaten YSE not once but twice, beaten AP and Kingston-I guess anything is possible.
As for what tender SCC uses, it won't make a difference if the team forgets to help out.

Nope, i have seen this team a few times in tournaments and in 2-3 league games. Besides if what we read here is true and YSE is aquiring on of them then there must be one better then the other.
You will most likely see the stronger one playing in Barrie tonight.

Don't bet on YSE "know how to pick a goalie" too bad they cannot develop from within - and yes they are looking for more then a goalie from SCC (this is a great compliment) - how loyal to their own players.

YSE takes one of those goalies and they will be in worse shape than they are now!

Neither SCC goalie is going to YSE. The former Waxer goalie will be going back to Markham. Brother Andre coach, who will be next years 95 AAA coach, was seen talking with the parents after the high school game earlier this week. Former Red Wings goalie will stay with SCC as a starter

There is no player on this team that will make a difference, even if they do secure a playoff spot they will be out in 3-4 games. Everyone knows that there is no competition in this devision. Bottom line will be YSE and Barrie. A/P, SCC and Waxers will be dust in the wind, they battled well though but they all would be best to accept that they will have to settle for less then the best (again)!

To those who wanted #19, they will probably give him to you without a fight. He has not nearly been the superstar he is supposed to be. In the last 4 or 5 games the Waxers have scored 20 goals, I don't think one of them has been from #19

Goal scoring isn't everything. He's still a big part of the team and a great kid. On and off the ice.
This year we have a much more balanced lineup and getting scoring from all three lines.
I bet you there is 4 or 5 players that could be in the race for points leader on this team.
19 was one of the early bloomers and hit puberty first. He dominated for a couple years because of it.
Now others are catching up. You can't expect him to score every night. He makes things happen

Coach came in bragging things will change, they are probably the worst AAA team in Ontario. Two wins this team is at best a mediocre AA team. Hallet brouhgt zero in and team was much better with BW. Goalie from states only decent recruit, and the rest work hard, with coach BS them about his great OHL contacts. This year was a disgrace and the coach thinks AA and hopefully this clown will be let go at year end. This team should never have wasted their time and everyone elses playing in the AAA loop.

Did you not know Hallet fired from Kingston as OHL scout and US kid shopped around to all teams, but only Halet made offer.

It is anything but a shame and definately not top notch in terms of coaching and developing. If his efforts had been top notch we would have seen much more from this team over the last few years.

MH knew going into the Flyers that they were weak, shouldn't he have been able to make a difference? He is the HC afterall? Did he? NO! Do the boys like him? Sure, he is a likeable guy but I bet if you asking anyone of the boys and the parents, he did little for them as players or as a team.

Oh please! Bribed or not, he would not have been at YSE 2 years ago. The difference with this 'years' bribe is that there is a personal connection to the ante. Sad thing is, the 'ante' is not even that good.
Besides, reality is, this kid ain't leavin'! He just doesn't have it in him. And before you folks think I am being negative to the kid RELAX, I just mean that if he can be swayed by who his teammates will be then he just does not see his true potential.

He's a non-parent volunteer coach, that has coached Minor Midget AAA many times.
He's been there, done that and probably could write the book.

There are lots of unknowns with this team. The coach is unknown in the Waxer community. It is unknown if the team can amount to any more then 3r. Hypothetically speaking; what does it mean when you and your kid meet with next years coach and the coach makes a few negative comments about other players on the team? Nothing really malicious and not really mean but enough to make you say hmmmmm? Would that send out some red flags?

Like what? Truths? Like "little Billy is soft? or Little Johnny has not shot? or Freddie needs to learn how to skate better?"
I don't know, if its something like that, I don't see harm in that. Many people talk about players on a team.
Strengths and weaknesses.

Coach should not be discussing any players with any other players/family. Period.

If the coach is being critical of players while pointing out what he'd like to improve about the team then I don't see any real issues. If he's being rude and completely bashing players then that's a different story.

I don't know, I think I would have to agree with 11:06...there should be no discussing other players.
I understand how it can be considered harmless if he is using players of examples of what he needs to improve but it depends on how it is done. If he says 'I am concerned about Joe's size and the increased risk of injury' or 'John's style would work well being on the same line as Tom', I guess those type of comments are ok but what I would question is the use of names and why he feels the need to discuss/critisize (even if it is done with good intentions) players with other players. I am sure that plans for next season and an improvement plan can be laid out loud and clear without any names being mentioned.
If he is making comments such as 'Bill, is strong in the corners but skates like crap' or 'Tim couldn"t skate end to end if his life depended on it'....Not acceptable at all.

So, are you going to share the comments that have got you thinking?

I'm also curious to know if the coach made any critical or negative comments to you and your son about where he thinks your son can improve

If he is making any of the above comments to you, you can guarantee that other players/families are hearing about your kid.
Negative comments or not, I do not agree with a coach critisizing one kid to another.
