U16 Team ALLIANCE Staff Announced - 4/6/2010

Stratford, ON - The ALLIANCE Hockey U16 Policy Committee is pleased to announce the U16 Team ALLIANCE Staff:

Head Coach: Tony Ciampa (Hometown - Windsor)
Assistant Coach: Dave Schlitt (Hometown - Waterloo)
Assistant Coach: Mike Payne (Hometown - Wateroo)
Assistant Coach: Nathan Herrington (Hometown - Cambridge)
Trainer: Eric Corda (Hometown - Sarnia)
Trainer: Don Woodley (Hometown - London)

"The process was very challenging as we set out to complete the team staff based on a very qualified group of applicants from the ALLIANCE Hockey "Family". We feel very confident that the "team" of Tony, Dave, Mike, Nathan, Eric and Don will do a great job of bringing a group of our best '95 born players together and create a 1st-class team to represent the ALLIANCE. Intense preparation and continual guidance for the players will be needed to achieve this given the short time lines offorded to them. Again, we have every confidence in the entire staff to reach this goal based on their determined work ethic and dedication to ALLIANCE Hockey," stated Gary McFarlane, Team ALLIANCE Director of Operations.

"It is with great pride and enthusiasm that I accept the head coaching positiion of Team ALLIANCE," stated Ciampa. "We will work hard to put the best team together and represent the ALLIANCE with the respect and class that ALLIANCE Hockey is known for."

The team staff, together with Director of Operations, will be attending the OHF/OHL U16 Camps that will be held throughout the Province during April and May to continue to identify potential Team ALLIANCE players.

Further information regarding the August Event should be released soon as a decision on the exact date, location and format of the Event is decided upon by the governing bodies of minor hockey in Ontario (OHF, ODMHA, HNO). Team ALLIANCE will be one of 6 teams from across Ontario that will be assembled to compete in August. The other participating teams will be from the following minor hockey branches/member partners: ODHA - ODMAH, HNO, OHF - GTHL, OHF - NOHA and OHF - OMHA.

Which Windsor goalie? Both are fairly even in net.

Wheaton from Windsor, Lucier from SC best goalies in the Alliance

Wheaton kid also won the HighSchool Championship for villanova as a 9th grader.

U16 Team ALLIANCE

ALLIANCE Hockey is currently in the process of identifying athletes who will receive an invitation to participate in the Team ALLIANCE Under 16 Team Selection Camp that will be held to identify players for U16 Team ALLIANCE.

Athletes will be selected by the Team ALLIANCE Staff based on a variety of methods, including; feedback from last seasons 95 coaches, through independent scouting feedback, from observation the team Staff has had from events such as the OHF/OHL Under 16 Camps and Toronto Prospects.

Below is the tentative timeline and outline of events leading up to the competition in August 2010:

Invitations to participate in the Team ALLIANCE Under 16 Team Selection Camp to be sent out the week of May 17th
U16 Team ALLIANCE Selection Camp to be held June 12th & 13th in London, ON
U16 Team ALLIANCE to be announced the week of June 21st
U16 Team ALLIANCE will compete in a 6-team tournament that will be held in Kitchener, Ontario August 12-15, 2010. The tournament format will have representation from each of the following organizations: GTHL, OMHA, NOHA, ODMHA, HNO and ALLIANCE Hockey. The tournament is being held to provide the Team Ontario Coaching Staff with an opportunity to identify the potential players that will make up Team Ontario. This team will represent Ontario and compete for a gold medal at the 2011 Canada Winter Games being held in Halifax, Nova Scotia beginning February 2011.

It doesnt make sense that a 96 coach who doesnt know the 95 age bracket was chosen for this team.I think a coach with experience in this age shouldve been chosen.Isnt it funny how TC always finds a way to weasel into a draft year some way or another.Tricky part will be how he will do that next year when he expects to coach his kid for 3 years in a row and still provide sub par record. Never once saw TC at a 95 game this year, he was upset because JB doesnt take his advice or follow the bible of TC. The most entertaining moment was at a tournament last year when the 3 Windsor teams got knocked out TC and the Midmin coach running over to try and tell JB how to play in his championship game.Needless to say the unsolicted advice was not taken and the 95's won the tourney.
