Stan Butler Quote on Jr.A. in TorontoJuly 7 2010 at 8:11 PM | Anonymous |
| Earlier this week the OHL's Brampton Battalion signed an affiliation agreement with Villanova Jr.A. (and no, I'm not from Villanova).
I found this quote interesting...
Were excited about this, said Stan Butler, Battalion director of hockey operations and head coach. The problem with junior A hockey in the Toronto area is that most of the teams are run by parents who have kids on the team. One of the criteria I have for an affiliate is a team with an owner who doesnt have a son on the team. Villanova has very strong ownership and a great organization.

Why would a Jr. A team want to be affiliated with an OHL team that will direct who is on your roster, who you should play and develop...... etc etc etc..... Once developed they can take the player back and give you a bag of pucks. Other OHL clubs will not want their players on the team because of Brampton affiliation. NCAA kids will stay away.
The Villanova organization should have done their homework.
