NWHL Spring Championship Games a JokeMay 31 2009 at 6:29 AM No score for this post | confused (no login) from IP address 24.15.215.201 |
| Maybe I haven't been around enough, but and I have never before seen, and I don't understand, a championship bracket like this one. How do you put the winner of a division's top 6 teams against the winner of the bottom 4 or 5 as a championship game?
This becomes like a practice game for the stronger team, hard to take seriously, don't need to play all out, and still likely to have a very lopsided championship victory. The semi's become the real championship game.
I think it does the league a disservice when the championship game is a joke. I don't get it. Is this like a participation award for the weaker teams, or could someone help me make sense of this? |

Spring hockey is about being on the ice. I would rather see my kid play against better kids and get better. then play against worse kids and walk all over them.
Spring hockey is Fun hockey
Fall hockey is Work Time |

First, all hockey should be fun hockey.
Second, there are two team in a game. If one team is being challenged playing above their level, than the other team is not, playing below their level.
Third (and most important), while a mismatch of team abilities may be routine, unavoidable, and acceptable during normal season, it is a very bad design for a championship game to not put the two most deserving teams against each other for the most challenging and exciting game. |

Anonymous: I don't see how it's fun to be either the "worse" team being "walked on" (in your own words) or being the team doing the walking. |

@Who Cares
House hockey means parents with more money for college and kids with more time for studying and life. But you go ahead playing your little overpriced hockey and imagining your better than all of the house kids (even though some are better than you with less practice). None of it will matter when you are playing adult league and working your dirt shovelling job. |

Sorry to disappoint. Good hockey and good grades. Men's hockey not so bad for exercise. You spend less money because spending more on your house puke would be a waste. So actually I'm getting a better return on my investment. Lose the travel envy. Your kid never had a chance. Weak DNA pool. |

why do idiots insist on coming into a forum that isn't their's just to post stupid stuff? attention? grow up. this is a house forum, if you don't have something constructive to add, then go re-tape your stick or superglue the crack in your helmet - find something constructive. |

Travel Hockey is for the good kids. Most of the kids that play travel hockey are away alot. BUT they go to parties. When they are not at hockey, and still have more friends than the house league benders
House hockey is for the kids that want to do good in school. They go to hockey, and instead of going out with his/her friends that sit at home and work on homework, and read.

Our children have played house, travel and AAA. We had two children who went AAA, one loved it and stayed with it; one didn't like the time commitment and went back to travel. Two went travel and then chose to go back to house in order to focus on other activities. One child hated LTS and never played hockey.
Are most AAA players better than most AA players? Of course. Are most travel players better than most house players? Of course. But are all AAA players better than all travel players? Nope. Are all travel players better than house? Not at all -- in fact Bronze is a house-skill level with travel dedication.
Each level has advantages and disadvantages. The choice should be made by each family for each individual child. There isn't a "right" choice nor even a "best" choice for all.
Make the decision that is right for YOUR child and have a great season!

We are the Provisional Illinois Hockey Revolutionary Army (PIRHA). We have joined the struggle against the Tyrant Pee Dree and his unwillingness to impose mandatory registration of this message board. We are outraged by the constant and incessant slandering and bad mouthing of Illinois Hockey Players, Coaches, Organizations and even some hockey moms. Without mandatory registration the cretins of Illinois hockey will continue to impose judgments under god utilizing any and all means to embarrass young hockey players, coaches, organizations and even some hockey moms. Pee Dree began with a good intention yet his irresponsibility in maintaining the order of the system has resulting in player’s names being mentioned and coaches vilified. WE have now joined the struggle against the Tyrant Pee Dree by providing the Isalamwiththelakers hockey fundamentalist martyrs brigade several Unix softwares which generate random IP addresses attempting to block all the randomly generated ip’s is futile. Clearing the messaging and posts we leave will become a FULL TIME job, we will ensure that. The only way to stop it is to re-instate Mandatory Registration. Registration is the only way the cretins will go away.
