The Darien Park District is trying to make hockey an affordable option for all ages. While many in house programs stop at the mite levels, Darien goes all the way up to and including Bantam. So ages 5-14 all have a place to play. We even provide equipment for the younger ages at no additional charge. Also so it makes it easier to accomadate your busy schedule, it is two seasons, sept 12-Dec 31 and Jan-March 31.
The Chicago Hawks will provide quality instruction during practices on Saturday mornings and all games will be on Sunday mornings. There are also ice times available during the week.

For additional information contact the Darien Park District or you can find additional information on the Chicago Hawks web site at www.chicagohawks.com

It is great that this is being set up as affordable option to travel hockey. My question is why start a winter sport in Fall and leave out kids who are not playing travel hockey because they want to play football, soccer, or many other fall sports?

Suggestions for House programs to start in Late Oct and end in Feb.. Do more practices from Oct - Nov and increase game schedule in Jan-Feb. Puts programs in position to teach before games and set up for Spring starting in March.

ironic. just yesterday I posted about Robert Morris Maroon having a house kid on the roster along side the ex-junior players and how much ridicule this kid probably got from the ignorant travel families who seriously don't have a clue.

Robert Morris Maroon is the the college version of House hockey. It's not scholasrship hockey dumbow, it's a money marketing thing to get your kids college money only.. They do a good job but it is what it is..

dude, only the top 1% of AAA players in Illinis even have a tiny shot at D1 scholarship college hockey. why a AAA player feels the need to rip house is more than a little odd.

The prices are on the web site. go to the sportsplex website choose ice arena > little hawks hockey; choose registration forms and in-house team registration form. It will have the indistrict/out of district prices. My son started at Darien and the facilities, coaches and program were great. They did not mix 6 & 12 year olds on teams but did have multiple teams on the ice for practices/clinics. It was a great place for my son to learn the basics and also we could watch the more advanced NIHL skaters on the other rinks. It's an inexpensive (relative to travel) way for your child to get a taste for hockey.
