AHAI reportedly established a quota for at least the 97 year: of the players invited to the camp, at least 80% would come from AAA teams, with no more than 20% from AA teams. If AHAI followed this formula, then a maximum of 14 AA players would be invited. Perhaps the philosophy is that AAA players are more likely to advance after playing against tougher competition. However, it is an arbitrary fallacy to assume that the majority of players on TI and Fury are more skilled or more competitive than all but 14 AA players throughout the state. By establishing a quota, AHAI tells parents and players that it cares more about AAA players than those in AA and that it will reward the financial and time sacrifices associated with AAA hockey.
