My son just finished his state round robin games yesterday. Our program did not have a Midget Minor Program last year.

Which clubs are having a Midget Minor Program next year and who will the coaches be?

Thanks in advance for your responses.

You can bet your ass the Blues will put up a MM and / or mm team(s) next year after this past championship season... Way to go Blues!! Not just one or two but ALL the bantam Blues teams have been great this year. Give them a look if you are considering a change.

I would discourage anyone considering a move to the Blues for their Midget Years. Lucky for the hockey community I heard that they couldn't even field a single midget team last year. The reason-no one would skate for Jeff Jones.

In the interest of full disclosure my son only played for the blues one year and he quit that team before the season was over, so I cant comment on the other coaches or directors. My son was recruited by the manager of the team. We went there. Jeff Jones was low class even by hockey standards.

If for some reason you want to drink the kool-aide and head over there to ruin your kids last years of hockey I would do your homework first. I think you would be hard pressed to find one kid whose skills improved from Jeff Jones. I would also think you would be hard pressed to find one person who could stand that b@st@rd. There is a reason that after our season, every year, less and less kids came until eventually he couldn't get a single kid to play for him. They had no midget teams at all last year.

I also have a Bantam Major and would never let Jeff Jones any where near my kid. Try Chargers, Sabres, Huskies or Leafs for your Midget Programs.

Jeff would NOT be in charge of the Midgets... it would be Todd Finner... Case closed. Bring your kid to the Blues if he wants to play MM or mm... Finner is an excellent coach... forget the Sabres, Huskies etc... Your kid will get excellent development / training and probably a better look at the Blues if he/she has the talent.

Reading between the lines from the above poster. It is now safe to go to the Blues. Midgets do not worry about having Jonesy as your coach. After so many kids quit after years of being called "Fukin Retards" over and over again. They took Jonesy away from the midgests and put him down to the Peewee 3 teams and Bantam 3 teams. He is now instead free to coach the 8 year olds.

Although CC of the Sabres is an excellent coach, I too agree with the above poster that the Blues is the way to go. Don't forget about the RT's Falcons either. Both these programs are interested in getting kids noticed and help them move on to bigger and better things. Yea....TF's personality is bit of a wet noodle, but he is a good coach and it will not hurt your kid one bit skating for him. Sabres are a great organization if you just want your kid to play and have fun, but not really go anywhere with it. Just my 2 cents.

Check out the Bruins. Steve Maltais is an excellent coach that gets the most out of his players. Bruins Midget majors are playing for the state championship with coach Rodie. Bruins must be considered as one of the top programs.

I love it when AA parents think their kid is "going somewhere with it". Where do you think your going? Jr. B, Big f'n deal. Go play where youll see ice time, have fun and maybe you wont quit when your 16.

The parents should help him do the research. The kid is old enough to decide where he wants to play. If he aspires to play high school, or AA or AAA. There is no wrong answer. Let him decide what he wants to do most, starting to make his own decision, and living with those decisions, will come in very handy later in life.

If you want the best bang for your buck go to the Chargers. Great orginization from the board right down to the parents. My son played the last 2 years mm with the Bolts and we won it all last year, got screwed this year from the refs at the MM level during both the CSDHL playoffs and the Blackhawk Cup, but thats another story.
The Bolts have a strong and storied tradition, and you will feel like one of the family once you are in. Come and try a spring skate with us, you won't go anyhwere else!! Next year there are great expectations for both the mm and MM level, but expectations leads to results, just check all out of our banners.

Bolts 2013!!!!!!!!!!

Now you know to stay away from the Chargers due to the crazy parent group. They lost both CSDHL and State because of the officials. Both titles were theirs but they got " screwed" by the refs. I can only imagine the screaming red faces in the stands. I by the boys were proud!

Finner coached my son for 2 years. There is no better youth hockey coach in Illnois. He develops each player to the best of that player's ability, and he instills both teamwork and discipline. I have not spoken with a parent whose son was coached by Finner who does not feel the same way.

I agree that Finner is one of the best coaches in hockey. My son was with him for a few years.
Midget Minor will be a tough team to break into because of the amount of AAA cuts who will gravitate to him. I don't know if he will be fielding a 97/96 team or strictly be a 97 squad.

Finner did not pull his team because "things were not going his way" He pulled them because the refs were idiots and allowing goon hockey on the ice.

He was right

The refs were fine. The Blues were getting physically manhandled and he quit. After all of the blowout wins over the years he quit in a tough game. KC had played all of their games the same way and no one else quit.

One blotch shouldn't ruin a career and TF is an accomplished coach. Don't make excuses for a major failing---because if you do then make the same to his success.

Jeff Jones Best Coach

Jeffery Jones is the best coach youth hockey coach you can have in Illinois. He has knowledge beyond his years, great drill combinations and knows how the game needs and should be played. Don't throw him under the bus because someone you know couldn't hack it. Not only is he a great coach but also a nice individual. I definitely disagree.

I agree. I think Jones is a great coach. My son played for him and loved it. Is he a little crass and abrasive to some players....YES! Deal with it.He develops players and the ones who have a backbone have a great time.

Finner is also a great coach. You will be hard pressed to make that lineup if you are not on his radar. Showing up at tryouts and paying your fee won't cut it.
