Mostly games with limited practice = House League (and in some cases Tier II organizations)
When you are in AAA, you need the practice to perform/compete in the games. If you want more games and less practices, then AAA is simply not for you. You are 100% correct that most kids will not make it to Juniors or D1, but that does not mean that AAA should throw its hands in the air and say oh well, lets just play games and forget the practices. How many days per week do you think Junior/D1/Pro teams practice? If you think about it, the higher you play, the more you practice. The same should hold true at the youth level.
AHAI is putting this plan in place in advance of HPC because it is coming. And with less AAA teams around, the competition to make those teams will get stiffer.
Will it be fun when the kids are losing 80% of their games each year because they are not practicing enough? |
