Happy with the hometown clubWhile Louis Leblanc was thrilled to be drafted by his hometown Montreal Canadiens, Cedar Rapids RoughRiders defenseman Paul Phillips was just as excited to be selected by the Chicago Blackhawks. Phillips is from Darien, Illinois which is a western suburb of Chicago.
"It's an absolute dream come true," said Phillips to the Chicago Tribune. "Growing up a Hawks fan my whole life adds to the already spectacular situation. I am excited to get rolling."
"I am very happy for Paul Phillips and his family that he was drafted by his hometown Chicago Blackhawks," said Mark Carlson, RoughRiders head coach. "Paul will move on to the University of Denver, have great success there, and then have a great goal to focus on in Chicago."
