| Central Scouting players to watch list includes not only Teglia and Moore from the Mission but Max Cook and Cab Morris listed as B players. Can see how they missed Morris as he is in the Eastern schools list but they listed Goggin for years being from Mission although he left and went to prep school.
Guess what they say about the Mission is true they promote a select few players and if you are not one of them you are just there to pay the bills |

Maybe Mission doesn't believe the others are worth mentioning. |

Who writes the stuff on the Mission Website. I was reading how Lind had joined the Steel. In the article in says that the last local kid to move during the season was Pissallini. First, Pissilinni played the full season with the Mission before moving up to get enough games in to become the Steel's property. Second, their was a CYA kid last year that made the jump to the USHL midseason. Research your facts! |

LIND WILL BE IN PROS!!! Heard all the hype before? If he doesn't make it to the pros what a huge disappointment, after all Mission says he will be a pro. |

Sounds like a bunch of pissed off people because their kid was not mentioned.
Tell your kid to get away from the TV or Game Qube and shoot some pucks...maybe you should help him.
Then the result might be similiar to these hard working kids!
Grow up and deal with it. |

The site has become a joke. no anger but a lot of laughs at the projections. these are midget hockey players highlighted as having "phenominal skills", "will be a Pro",etc. Whoever is writing this stuff has no idea how funny these things come across. Until they get a grip they will continue to be mocked and laughed at. Report the news, or achievements without all the bs about their exceptional hard work, "phenomenal" skills, unique talent, exceptional leadership skills, will be a pro or college player. The editorials do keep everyone reading and entertained. |

Pisellini, Lind, CYA kid. None of them were first, nor will they be the last. When T.I. hosted Nationals four/five years ago, they lost two kids to Juniors around Christmas. Gannon went to Sioux City, and Kissel went to the Steel. T.I. still won the State Championship.. so relax. I am sure they were not the first either. |

You people miss the point. The hype on the website isn't written for you. It's written for the parents of the players at Mission. They read and re-read it and they believe it. It is proof to them that they are wise to pay the money to Mission for the fees, privates, spring teams, locker room TVs, secret scholarship funds, etc. And it is proof to them that their turn is coming.
Second, don't underestimate the effect of hype and "marketing" in getting kids into junior and college programs. College recruiting budgets are very limited. Assistants are busy and spread thin. They do make decisions on reputation/hype every day. |

If you read other true "scouting" reports the highly hyped mission players are taking some pretty big hits on these.
All the press about Tynan and Teglia by their site writer is making it a tough go with others. First Schmaltz kid was taking hits, now these two and don't think if they keep hyping Lind he won't be next. Only one to seem to live up to the billing is Moore and while at Mission no one had heard his name uttered. Russo's parents seem to keep his success pretty quiet and he just keeps performing. Time to let the boys play bring them the press not the piper they have paid along the way.

Ok, I won't disagree that hype may help a player but there is no college scout/school in the country that will take a kid because the Mission website/promo writer says they should.
The primary purpose for all that hype is to get the Mission faithful to believe their "turn is next". It is all about retaining from within and recruting from outside.
Don't be fooled by hype. The only thing the next level wants is good players, not good players on paper. |

Old timer, it is fantastic that you are dedicated to the program. If all people had your passion for the club maybe it would be in better shape. The Flames at this point Currently field 10-NIHL teams, 3 - CSDHL teams and 4 - NWHL teams (17 total). The Sabres field 29 teams across the 3, The Huskies Field 19 teams not including house teams, The Falcons field 16 teams plus another 18 house teams for 34 total. The Blues and leafs field 14 teams not including house, the Chargers have 12 teams and another 8 playing for the H.E house program. The Vikings have 15 not including house. (All these numbers include Girls teams where applicable.) The Leafs field 24 teams. No one has lost as much membership as the Flames over the past few years.
The issue is two-fold. One is that you have lost a HUGE amount of your base. The more kids to choose from, the stronger the program generally is. A few years back at CID the Flames fielded a full roster of CSDHL, NIHL and NWHL teams. The Flames are now down to only 3 CSDHL teams (MM, Mm, BM). At NIHL they fielded 3 or 4 teams at each level, now they field no more than 2 at any age level. Their NWHL program would field a minimum of 3 teams at each age level, now they field 4 teams total across the board. Probably as recently as 4 or 5 short years ago the club approached if not exceeded 30 teams, most fully rostered, now there are 17, many with only 10 or so players on them. Secondly, of the teams that remain, very few are successful. None of the CSDHL teams are even .500, only the MM is even close. Other than a Girls team and the Mite teams, most of the other NIHL teams are at the bottom of the standings. The NWHL midget team is OK, the other teams are near the bottom. Overall the club record is not great. Given close alternatives (Blues, Admirals) people will choose more "successful" programs.
The Grizzlies and Chiefs will NEVER be a feeder program. They all compete in NWHL, and there is some general hatred between them. The Chiefs were supposedly going to be the feeder program for the Blues when they were at the Edge, and they never were. Their membership is down considerably as well. They used to field 15+ teams and are now down to 9.
The Flames didn't invent weekly power skates or goalie clinics. Many programs have done it forever, even in House league.
People did not come on here to complain about the Flames. An "old timer" like yourself asked what happened. Open, honest opinions (mixed in with the occasional bulls*&^) about what caused the problem were expressed. The fact remains that the club is struggling, based on numbers, based on records, and even based on as you say "the number of kids that are being promoted to AAA". All of those numbers are WAY down for the Flames. Next year competition for local players will increase with the freeze on the Admirals taking players from other clubs being lifted. Numbers may continue to decrease at the Flames, which does not bode well. | |
