There are no top goalies at the 98 and 99 level. There are only kids who are afraid of the puck and those who are not. Calm down there dad. Lets wait a few year before we declare your boy the next Roy or Luongo.

If they can get any decent skaters the 99's will be fine . There is some decent talent up North and after all the shots that goalie saw playing for the 98's this season , they have a good start . On the other hand , there is a 99 goalie on the Mission team . Will he also play 99, cause if so Mission and CYA are ahead of the pack right now ?

you have the wrong 99 cya goalie....the one that saw all the shots may still be on the 98 team and is much better than the one your thinking about, even if he's on the brick team. And yes the 99 goalie on the mission is going to play 99's and he is very very good (cream of the crop), also not on the brick team.
the kid from winnetka is far from being the top 99 goalie and has a long way to go.

This is CYA remember. The doormats at almost every level every year! What will change with 98's or 99's? Nothing! Same bad rink, bad coaching. The only thing that will change is that the fees will go up and they will cash your check quicker.

I don't think so. The 98's from Winnetka and the elite ice dogs could change the face of this program. It could be very competitive come the fall.

Gentelman, and I use that term loosely, relax. If the kids from Winnetka CS and the Elite Ice Dogs are not that good, wat are you worried about? I think that you don't care to see this team get better, afraid that they might beat your expectations?

What is your problem with the coach? Why do you keep refering to him as a bad one? Did he beat you at some level in the past?

AA kids work very hard.
AAA kids also work very hard.
I work very very hard.

Glad we got that settled.

Will someone now explain why if the CYA 98 coach is very good and he brings in Elite Ice Dogs and Winnetka CS players, that this team can not be very competitive.

Remember, this year they get to check and that will change the game for a lot of kids.

How many times and for how long the kids from AA have dry land? You get 15 minutes before the game at the rink and the kid is ready to play? Please give me a break. How many parents are helping the kids with their skates?

Let's do the math. In AAA kids play around 60 games per season and about 100 hours of on ice practice and around 100 hours of dry land (very important for the conditioning of the kids). Cost is about $5800.00. In AA most programs are about $3000.00. At age 10 the most important is the ice time. How many games and practices the AA kids have per season? By the way in AAA games each period is 17 minutes vs 12 in AA.

A better stat for dopey experts. How many Squirt major AAA players will be a AAA Midget major player, on average according to USA Hockey Registration stats? Nation wide? ONE. How many in 2008-2009 last year started as AAA Squirts and finished last season in AAA MM? Do your homework and save your money.

Your kid is playing now, why you are looking in the future. Looks like you give up on your kid already. Let the kids play and learn. In the same logic why go to a better school, the kid may never become a doctor, or a lawyer. I rather spend money for sports now than later when is too late. Kids are learning a lot more than just hockey, they are learning to work hard and try there best.

track record

March 14 2009, 5:47 AM

Look this is how AAA works at the very yound levels. There are not enough players at these levels for CYA and Fury. You are asking how the team will look. The answer is the same way they have looked for the last 15 years.CYA and the Fury have a super hard time putting together decent teams at the lower levels. Both the Fury and CYA had bad years at the 98 & 97 levels. There location kills them both. Location is why TI and Mission land players more able to play AAA at the beginning years. As the kids get older there are times when these two clubs could put out a good product. At the 94 level when RT had CYA he had the team playing great hockey, beating some of the best teams around, CYA MM team was ranked #1 in the USA about 3 years ago because the coach was able to pull good players who were not playing at the JR level back to CYA MM. The Fury plays decent hockey at the bantam and Midget levels. Please dont take this as negitive, it just the way things are. AAA and AA will see lighter numbers across the board next season because of the mess the country is in. These will not help CYA or any club with enrollment.

CYA 98 had a tough year but will be better this year. CYA 97 turned a big corner and beat Mission and TI this year and had a season where they got better all year. At 97 Mission and TI better add players for upcoming season or CYA will be probable top team in state.

Best teams are where the best players/athletes decide to go and then who develops them the best.

Two cents? There are enough AAA Caliber players for two Clubs at EVERY LEVEL PERIOD. Check out the Mission's Spring Hockey Info and Testimonial. The statistics speak for themselves. CYA and Fury provide a place for players to play in a AAA Hockey League, but they have no business playing there. LOOK at their records through the seasons. There are good coaches and shit coaches at all 4 clubs. Only 2 clubs get the benefit of the true AAA talent and it's not CYA or Fury. How's CYA shaping up?

Based on your previous posts under yout IP address you really have a bone to pick with CYA. If you are so well informed tell us all what the problems were with this coach, CYA and AHAI that were so tragic that he was hired again. Give us the real reason for why he is at CYA now. It sounds to me like you have annointed Mission and TI as the best, or excuse me, only two AAA teams next season at the 95 level. Any clue what the new Mission 95 coach thinks of CYA coaches kid or what the two coaches relationship is? Do you know Mission will be better than Fury, CYA? If your going to spout off at least know the facts or ask the questions directly to those involved. A little quote right from your keyboard 3-3-09 under another topic, " no one scouts little kids, who cares" apparently you do very much. Give your opinion in two years when it counts- I will be here- will you???

Stop buying into AAA Wins/Losses

No score for this post
April 15 2009, 8:05 AM

Focus on one thing, your player's development. Not their team's wins/losses. Are the players getting better? This is all for a run at Midgets. Nothing before that counts. Nothing. Win MWEHL, State, even Nationals. Some great childhood memories, nothing else. Work on your son/daughter's skill development on and off-ice and try to give them a shot for midgets where someone will look at them if they are in AAA at that level.

Miami Chicago Players this year:

LoVerde, Vince Defenseman CYA Entire AAA Career
Wingels, Tommy Draft Pick Sharks CYA as a youth then T.I. at Midgets
Tomassoni, Matt Defensman - Chicago Mission
Kevin Roeder- Defenseman Chicago Mission
Eichenlaub, Raymond Defenseman Chicago Mission

To Youth Development,

Let me summarize all your bull shit into a few sentences...
"CYA is terrible. Always have, always will. We get a few talented players at an early age because of our location to North shore talent (Wingles and Roeder)played for Wilmette as Mites. Then they wise up and get the HELL out. The AAA Benders that are not very good, stick around and pay our Bills. We get new coaches every year. This years flavor of the month is Martin Malley, a fuzzy foreigner who yells, screams, and bangs his stick on the ice as most CYA parents who are cluless have one hand down their pants while they watch. But we do this every year so the checks keep rolling in. We are looking at the 2002's now so we can pull the wool over their eyes as well."

Just because you don't like CYA, that is your problem. It is n ot for everyone. If kids want to play there and the families want to be there, why do you care? Worry about your club. If everyone would worry about there own instead of everyone elses, the world would be a better place.

Re: roster

Rumor has it that Mission and TI have players looking to exit. Whether due to cost or general unhappiness, I don't know.

CYA is picking up some good plaayers from AA programs. The Winnetka kids were CS and are very good. The ID pair are two of the best 98's that were on the Squirt team last year.

So let's enjoy this off season and then lets see what's what. RK is a very good coach that got stuck with a mediocre team last year. This year will be a different story.

That's the rumor and I like it.

Sad to see people rise up to the occasion and bash 10/11 year old kids. I thought this was about the kids, not parents ego's. Any time there are try-outs it's sad to see kids being cut, very hard on these kids who give it there all and don't make the clubs / teams they want to make.

Whether your player made the club/team they tried out for, maybe parents should teach their kids a little compasion for the kid that did not. Every player has or will be on the other end at some point.

It is called re-designing the website. You people need to relax and find something better to complain about. Would you rather they redesign their website in October. This is June, nothing is going on in Hockey. So they take the site down for improvements and you knuckleheads find that to banter about. You really need to find something more productive to focus your time on.
