why should top players sign cards in Il? Fees are out of this world and only Mission can promise post-season play.
Check out the jr. A teams. For all the money paid for professional hockey people to coach your kids as full-time paid coaches, Wisconsin AAA and before and after TW players are making the jr teams both in the USHL and NAHL while Il. AAA players are being sent home and wandering from tryout to tryout. CYA now is placing kids in the Canadian leagues and bragging about it. How many of these kids really have a future in hockey? Nice to have a place to grow-up and live-the-life but reality is these kids are just funding a league, filling spots and are not headed anywhere in hockey.
For all the money paid out for hockey in Il. the pay-off better be experiences in life not a hockey career as the Il. system isn't getting the development done or the coaches aren't connected enough to get placements with the promise of performance.
First time Waterloo black hawks may be without a Chicago player in years.
NTDP invited least players from Il. to tryout in recent history.
May be year with fewest Chicago players playing in USHL and that is including on the Steel.
Either Chicago people aren't getting what they have paid for or Il. just doesn't have the raw talent due to the cost, not all athletes families can afford $20 grand to play.
Top players should look at prep schools, moving to MI, MN or elsewhere to get coaching and connections without the cost. Don't sign on the dotted line. |

"CYA now is placing kids in the Canadian leagues and bragging about it. How many of these kids really have a future in hockey? Nice to have a place to grow-up and live-the-life but reality is these kids are just funding a league"
1.Who from CYA went/is going to Canada?
2.Where does it show bragging?
3.What league are you referring to as being funded?

Another question for CYA, why cut all the Chicago kids and take so many out-of-staters? Are all the kids from out-state better and worth funding/giving scholarships/aid to then the Chicago "developed" talent?
How many players who have come to Chicago to play AAA hockey does it really open doors for?
Chill had Klubernatz who went to GB and then Wisconsin, Ridderwall to Tri-City and then Notre Dame.
Mission hasn't had an out-of stater move on o college, Carlson from Cali might be someone who sticks with Des Moines and finds a college.
TI had Costello who made Des Moines, cut went to Nahl, then Cedar Rapids and then to Northeastern only to leave to play in minor leagues. Springer who played NAHL and then walked-on at Wisconsin. Allen who recently made Fargo may be able to secure college.
Fury had Carruth who made NAHL team and appears still headed to Duluth
Who has CYA brought in recently, and got to USHL or college?
Il. hockey is a pretty expensive game so who is benefitting the clubs or the players?

But are all those kids from CYA? I was more interested in Guest John Hancock's rant about bragging and funding of teams? John Hancock can you please clarify what you meant by those other comments?
Congratulation to all those young men and good luck to those that still have work to do.

Why always bashing CYA??? There is some real talent on the minor team this year. Watch and see. Some kids are extremely talented, not noticed by you people who write on this site but are noticed by the people who really matter. For those of you saying the 93s are weak then apparantely you haven't watched many 93s play. |

really talented minor eligible players would be playing Majors like Curran, and Russo did last year and Simonelliand Dodero did the year before. So are the people who know about all this talent their fathers? |

When you take out of towners for one season, it hurts your program.
If you win State and go on to Nationals then I would be wrong.
The local picks or soft in Lincolnwood, But the first $8k gets you in.
Midwest elite needs filler teams to fund the others..

Would be interesting to see the list of drafted and tendered players who both made teams and those that were released so they can now attend all the Canadian camps they were invited to. Also, if cut from NAHL teams and USHL teams what are the chances of making an OHL team(they also have more players at camps then will ever make their rosters).
As to the bragging list seems pretty obvious, who else but someone involved with CYA would be able to post a list like that.
Like the USHL and NAHL teams these teams not only "pick" top players they have to "fill" rosters and can only hope to fill the stands. Not all are as successful at getting top players, winning, and filling the seats.

9 US 93's have already signed with OHL teams. That doesn't include the 4 US kids 93's also signed in WHL. |

If a player has a paid tryout of any kind they loose their college eligibility. Even players at NHL camps had to pay own travel and tryout expenses.
Can go to tryout for hours indicated but can't accept payment of any kind including inkind room, food etc.
Go to NCAA.com and check out amateur status requirements. |
