That being the case should not all players be from Illinois? They show home addresses from Florida, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania.... AHAI - Amateur Hockey Association Illinois |

Can a billet kid compete for a USA Development camp spot in the district he is living in/playing in/registered in or must he go back to where his parents have a permanent residence?
If anyone has any experience with this, please respond. |
|
Belief (no login) 198.173.15.250 | Believe they can compete where temporarily livingNo score for this post | March 9 2010, 8:28 AM |
However, in several other locations, those players will not be chosen to move on if they do not reside permanently in the district they are trying out in. It is an unwritten rule in most other locations. Should be the same here. |

You guys are harsh, if there is not a high level of hockey where they live, where else are they suppose to skate. No one from their HOME district will see them. It is for the development of the kids on a national level. If Jonny doesn't go to the next level, he needs to pick his game up, reguardless of where he is from. |

The rule for Illinois is that teams with too many out of state kids are not supposed to be elegible to compete for the state tournament! AHAI does not have the nuts to inforce this rule, due to pressure from AAA orgs.
The least they could do is step up and make these camps ONLY availlable to residence!
You think Minnesota or Wisconsin would let a kid from Illinos, no matter how good, take a spot from one of there kids for anything??
Not a chance... |

Minnesota and Wisconsin kids should play in their own division, and so should Michigan residents. But what about TX,or Ok or SC. Shouldn't they have a chance if they skated here? |

95 roster has an aa ex-leaf Chargers Blues Huskies etc..So. If your qualified they know you.. If you are ready and qualified they will pick you to move on. Simple. You should not be concerned about anything or anyone. You should just encourage your skater to go an do his best. Ten to twelve or more are locks after that it is who got noticed at the right time. |

Yeah, really. How DARE AA kids be rostered! Their parents don't have the money for AAA and certainly no AA kid is qualified to play AAA so therefore they certainly don't belong in this camp, especially when chosen over Fury kids yet! What an outrage and a disgrace! |

First all U.S.A hockey districts have both state and district tournaments for players that reside in their district. In answer to the person said what about a player from TX or OK, trust me youth hockey is big in Texas and they send many players to the U.S.A. select festivals. Also if a player does not get chosen from his district festival their are at-large bids to the national festival, yes sometimes a player is missed during the evaluation.
In the past (3 years ago) all if not a majority of the players were from Illinois, players from out of state either went home for the tournament or petitioned their district to be added. If players from Michigan, Wisconsin or Minnesota come here come to IL to play AAA hockey because they cannot be chosen in their own states they should not be elegible for the festival teams in IL.
As I said all districts in U.S.A. hockey send players to the select festivals, they should get their by competing in their own state and district no matter where they are playing their team hockey.
Oh one more thing a foreign player should not be elegible this is the development of U.S.A. hockey! |

Pleeze stop with the crap that the 95 AA kids are harder working and thats why they got in. It's a quota thing. The AA guys got in because AHAI said to be fair you gotta let in some of the AA kids or they might be considered nothing more then recreational hockey (ie no different than house) players and we need the Travel kids to pay our bills. I've seen some great players at AA. But we all know there are many political picks at this camp. Be it AAA or AA. For instance this year you have a kid who played in Minni and one from Indy (state not town). Who at AHAI or which local coach saw these kids play this year? Who are we kidding. Why are they taking spots from kids who played here in Illinois. For all we know they rode the pine on their respective teams. But it all comes down to "Who does daddy know".
Last year there was a AA represenative who stunk it up and i've heard from his own team that he isn't motivated and lazy. The AA organization has allowed him to feel that it is his birthright to be on the top team and daddy has connections to get Jr to the camp. The team knows he ain't much but he's the best they got. Wake up M! He ain't going anywhere so stop stealing the one spot available. |

Are you talking about the 95 defenseman at TI that is from "Indy"? If you are, you know nothing about AAA hockey! This kid played his entire young hockey career playing in NIHL and several Chicago AAA teams...and by the way, could be the best 95 defenseman in Illinois (not to mention "Indy"). |
|
AAA Parent (no login) 67.175.81.136 | 95 from MinniNo score for this post | March 15 2010, 8:14 PM |
As I re-read your post, I am convinced you know nothing about hockey at this level. The only 95 from "Minni" (from Barrington)I can think of is the "Jet-liner" plays at Shattuck... Again, grew up on NIHL, played AAA here in Chicago and had the opportunity to play for one of the premier hockey schools in the world.
The 95 from "Indy" made it to the National Camp last year and "Minni" would of had a great chance if he did not break his wrist at this camp last year. I don't think you would find a single AAA parent in Chicago that would disagree not only these two kids should be at the camp, but also would not want them on there team! |

AAA vs aa talent. AAA kids at the player develp camp should have a distinct advantage. 7 months of faster practices and games have an affect both physically and mentally. Even a high end aa player would need time to adjust to the pace. With 70 or so 95s on the ice and only a handfull selected it is unlikely that anyone of the top players wil be over looked, in fact it should be painfully obvious considering how diluted the rosters are arranged. Each team has 5 elite players. It will be fair yet judgemental. The last 5 players selected to advance most likely will be equall to 5 who get cut. The selection for those final 5 kids will go on reputation and yes size. Hard to argue but now is when that gap becomes more obvious. |

it's unrealistic to assume that after an entire season of play and 6 years of AAA compitition at this level that decisions havn't been made by ahai. next weekend is a formality. |

Watched a changing of the guard this past few days. 96s had several new faces. The 95s had the most significant swing. I watched the kids hang out before and after games and compete head to head. Previous years Big Name Standouts did not impress as mush as years past. Several Johnny come latelys can flat out play. mm will be served alot of shakeups. 94s to difficult to tell. Alot of skaters shines but big timers not on the sheet at Bensenville.

How or where or who do you ask to find out the names of the kids who were invited...I am curious of the process and would like to find out who was invited...my kid has a couple of years yet but I am curious as hell since it seems to be such a controversial event.
Is there a link or an email?? |

At each level you have slam dunks The 96 change frequently as to can be considered after you look at the top ten. After that its any given Sunday. The Bantam still has it monsters who can dominate. As the above poster noted mm(95s) will level out physically. Fomer kings of the peewees/bantams have or are starting to be caught up to. Now it is neccasary to play team hockey. Those who have learned and worked hard will hang on. Others who experienced early success displayed frustration. Because of late growth both physically and as a player a handfull of new faces stood tall all weekend. This will be a tough level to select. Do you go with the player you know or do you select a kid who stood out but has had a quiet career in the wings. Im sure half of the comitee noticed but will they look past a player that has been a steady contributer but whos career is fading. This level will be most controvesial. The 94s are more established. The best of the best have been looked at hard. Several historic superstars are still good but not like in the past. Skill skill skill and yes size. Much easier to determine. To answer the question, AHAI will tell you what they discovered at the 96 level what they tthought at the 95 level and what they already new at the 94s. Regarding the 92s I have not a clue. The elite will move on and several were not here. Get used to watching hockey in a room full of a 100 different opinions. |
