MIDGET MAJOR TRY-OUTS

No score for this post
June 26 2012, 2:51 PM

WHY ARE THE MIDGET TRYOUTS SO EARLY ???

WHAT HAPPENED TO THE IDEA THAT FIRST YOU TRY-OUT
FOR NAHL JR TEAMS THEN IF CUT YOU FALL BACK TO
MIDGETS. WHAT IS A PLAYER TO DO ? MAKE A MAJOR TEAM
THEN TRY-OUT FOR A NAHL TEAM? IF YOU MAKE THE JR TEAM
I GUESS YOU JUST GO BACK AND TELL THE MIDGET TEAM GOODBYE.
MAKES WHY MORE SENSE TO HAVE MIDGET TRY-OUT AFTER
THE NAHL TRY-OUT ARE OVER. ANYONE AGREE????????

Why should anything make sense? Try out at MM AAAA and amend your card to include a general release if your NAHL intentions are realized. Read and redact your contract to fit you as a player; not the clubs bank account. I’ve been doing this for years…look’em in the eye and don’t blink…say take it or leave it…works for us.

Good Question, though early in the game, who's looking like a flop or like a champ?

The earlier post on TI is wrong. They will not be taking HS players. THey have some strong talent. Mission will be weak with 96, but some strong 95's. CYA maybe the best overall crop of 96's but not too strong with 95 and 94's. Fury - who knows what will blow in from out of state.

What are others' views?

Tryouts tomorrow, how many returning players coming back and how many AA kids are going to make MM this year? Good luck to everyone. Any rumors about pre-tryouts? Heard Fury most if not all the 95's r already made the team. TI not sure, what's up with Mission? CYA?

MM

Midget Major's is a tough level to figure out,
Most 1994's do not want to be at this level,
if you are still there and want to play NCCA
hockey, figure on starting as 20 or 21 year
old freshman. Most will elect not to play
MM by trying out for teams in the NAHL,BCHL
or OJHL. If they are cut many will play club
NCCA hockey or end the dream. There will be a
good number of 1995's at this level, most are
a year away from some type of JR program, the
AAA club that has the most of these type caliber
players will control ILL. The 1996 level still
has the option to play minor and be looked at twice
as hard and long then MM. Major is not what it was
8 years ago because of all the JR options out there.

Of course the teams are almost picked - but there are a few spots left all around I imagine. Teams should know pretty much what they have. Not too many surprises at this level.

No big program jumpers that I have heard - more about which 96 jumping up and which aren't.

A few TI jumpers. A CYA jumper. That's all I have heard of.

Actually, they are late

Compared to most places around the country, Chicago MM tryouts are late. Others are in May/June.
Since other cities only have one team, they have waiting lists of "good enough" player to fill the spots of the kids that get rostered on Jr teams.

TI- AA roster. Looks like a CSDHL team. Still open cards. Coaching lineup a nightmare. A daddy coach (ML) at MM. Kidding right?
CYA- Rookie coach. Took some cast offs from TI and Mission. No 95's to speak of. Open cards.
Mission- Kept most of 95's. Good 96's playing up. Picked up good out of state kid and strong player from HS. Stong GK. Looks to be class of MM.
Fury-Most mm kids moved up. Still open cards. Maybe some imports.

The peddle? If you mean the petal is off the rose, no. They developed some strong players that have moved on to Jr's. That's the rose blooming, not losing it's petals. As far as who is left, good 95's return, a few good 96's playing up, and two strong GK's.

The season, of course, will tell the best team - maybe Mission, maybe not. However, don't confuse moving on good players to higher levels with wilting flowers. That's what every player should want out of a program.

AAA major is so watered down the last year or so already. Finding a competant player would be difficult. I already feel sorry for csdhl teams. They will struggle to produce an appealing product. Even there the half good players left for jrs like the quality AAA players have. Minors are leaving as well.. Nobody is left except the the poor kid who would be Mr irrelevant

There are alot of 95s that will be on affiliate list for the USHL playing MM. It is because they were not ready for the hockey at that level or it is because they need to finish high school at home before heading out on their JR career. Either way it works fine.

Who has the best Midget Major team this year? Any in sight? How are all four teams looking? Heard Mission beat up Omaha twice, Fury went 1-1-1 in Wisconsin last weekend, TI struggle a little with their Minor team, nothing on CYA.
