Remember being at an arena and listening to a "hockey" dad watching his son play AAA MM talk of how his kids org. was going to get all these kids college scholarships. He went on to say that the org. had such a great record of "placing" kids in college. He furthered his comments adding that he had used all his college money for hockey so he was trusting these coaches to get his son college money. He was so excited talking about college hockey. To date, this player has yet to be able to make a USHL team, or play in the NAHL but a couple of games. The player is now heading to his last year of junior eligibilty. This guy had no idea that the players playing with his son were far better than he, that the "exposure" he was getting was because of them and that his "dream" of college scholarship money was just that a dream.
The bank, investing have far better rates of "placing" kids in college than any AAA program.
Enjoy AAA hockey for what it is a youth sport, it is not a college "placement" program, not a college scholarship program, and these coaches are selling something with a lot of willing, for the most part ignorant, buyers.
Any parent who does not save for college, does not push for top grades, and buys into any AAA coaches self-promotion will be sorry.
