That might be a function of NIHL/AHAI breeding a culture where girls hockey is not as important. There are many who say there is no good reason for girls to play girls hockey. That they should all play boys. I disagree for the simple reason that, for girls, this is a game. It is not a (imagined) ticket to the NHL. Girls play because hockey is a fun game. THe fact that that group says that only boy's hockey matters, is actually decimating the girls game by discouraging the better players to make the switch. If all the better girl players switched over, the entire girls game would be better. Besides, are the girls REALLY gonna play on a boys team for high school or college? Why not make the switch, enjoy the sport, and have some fun. Surely that is the primary purpose of sport?
