More teams make it more popular. Stop being an ass.
Enjoy the sport, and remember " it's high school hockey"
The more teams , the better chance the schools will start
To recognize hockey as the greatest sport . Till then :
They dont give a shit about it. And that's really sad.

great answer. hey WHY doesnt the state schools treat hockey like a normal school
sport ? findings were that football is far more threatening to ones physical health than hockey. Lacrosse too !!
And WHY doesnt AHAI and say the NHL and even the BLACKHAWKS 'LOBBY' our fine outstanding, money saving, 'POLITICIANS' into making it happen ?????
Does anyone know the answer to these questions ?
not thoughts but ANSWERS ....

It sounds like it is time to put a petition together to force the High schools to accept the sport for what it is and enough of this BS. This has been a club sport since the 1960's and it is about time that IHSA accept the fact that Hockey is not going away.
To say it is more dangerous than football or the newly minted Lacrosse is ridiculous.

If the state accepted hockey in high school, it would make private rink ownership responsible for providing outrageous insurance policies to protect themselves. Who do you think controls high school hockey...why does it cost over 300.00 an hour for ice....they are making a killing off of the system and you have no where else to go!!

Bull Shit, AIHI and USA hockey have some kind of insurance for the players don't they ?
So there is a way. don't push this under a rug. lets get it done.

not going to happen the "non-profits" that run the AAA clubs don't want hs hockey in IL. These clubs are paying staffs and running rinks and making money so to move to hs hockey would cut into their "profits" for the the non-profit!!! One non-profit pays a consulting fee to the rink owner of over $150grand. Think these "charitable" orgs. are going to give up their cash flow? HS hockey may have been doable at one time but with the rink owners, owning the "non-profit" AAA clubs never gonna happen.

what kind of reasoning goes behind your statement. rink owners make their money by selling ice, the more ice they sell the more they make. they are going to cater to groups that buy the most ice. you are a retard

Talk to rink owners, no way would they support a school supported league

HS hockey doesn't play the 60plus game schedule that AAA leagues play. Therefore these AAA owners would see their players leave to play for their school and they would be purchasing less ice than the AAA leagues they own, thus an income loss to these AAA rink owners. Also, no hs league is going to allow the coaches salaries that these rink owners get their high fee paying parents to fork over. The IL. hs league would monitor and regulate coaches, fees, etc. MN and MI hs leagues set limits on games, travel and monitor monies. IL. rink owners with their for-profits tied to their non-profits would never go for they don't want another government agency having any access to how they have been running things in the state.

As far as the rinks are concern, the problem is the rink owners are driving their business into the ground. Their ice rental fees are too high and destroying Hockey so either they get a new business model or the existing system is going to force change. They will have to change with it or go out of business.
Most clubs are going to be forced to look at how they are running as it stands now. Some of the organizations are paying in excess of $200,000 in ice fees which means the fees for some High School Teams are approaching if not exceeding the cost of AAA programs. It also means they are getting to the point where they would be better off owning and running their own rinks. Which will lead in some cases that High School clubs will either form equity ownerships with the rinks or clubs’ will have to figure out new business models to exists either way they will force the rink ownership models to change.
The point is we have come to a cross roads with Illinois Hockey and either we embrace change or watch as it continues to spiral out of existence.

There is a rink in the southern suburbs, where the management sunk nearly 100 k into remodeling the lobby bathroom. This rink has the absolute nastiest locker rooms in the state and doesn't even have toilets in the locker rooms for players to use. Yet, the ice per hour fee rises every year and now the owners have a liqour license which permits liquor on the premise. Beware parents and players, you have dropped to the very bottom of the totem pole!!

not to mention you lost by 20 goals at every varsity game and went 0-24-4 in jv for those who think its unfair there wrong they really need to have division 1 and division 2 in metro central

I started this thread. I have never seen them play, but was troubled by them getting killed in Varsity. I am glad they moved down to JV...and heartfelt Congratulations to this team for winning a couple of games in the playoffs. We've all been there on teams that don't do well on the scoresheet. I hope this season augers well on the future years for St. Patricks Hockey.
Good job!

Hey I think thats great St pats is supporting a hockey team! When I went there I knew about 15 players that played for team ilinois, mission, CYA and high end AA hockey! I can see pats in 10 years being a high end hockey team because talent will flock there! They will be able to compete with a loyola or a fenwick! They just need to start scouting kids they get cut from the high end schools to go there or not happy with there teams!

I graduated from 03 and those kids that played TI, mission, and CYA wanted to play but AAA wouldnt allow us to play high school at the time! Also are athletic director would not let us start a team back then! But all and all thats great good luck boys!

^ much agreed, having them play would be really unsafe considering their size. why would their parents even let them? leprechauns were just not meant to play hockey. period. this is ridiculous
