Really..? GBS and Fenwick are Illinois's powerhouses? That's insane that they are representing our state in this tourny because they both are extremely average. Also, if this tournament consists of all the state champions from every state, then it's basically a worse version of Nationals with teams like Fenwick representing that didn't even make it to the Final 4 last year.

Like a lot of tournaments like this one there isn't really any upside for teams to travel out there any longer. A better idea would be to have a tourny where you actually bring in the good high school teams from the Midwestern states and a lot of the prep school teams from the east and see what happens. The concept this guy is doing was exciting a few years ago when you had st Francis playing new trier but those days are over.

The tourny needs to change their strategy. Having fenwick and gbs going out their as a powerhouse is actually a huge misrepresentation and I'm guessing a lot of the other teams that are playing there are weak. If that is girl ours prep team and they have their normal strength then they should easily take the whole thing.im guessing its their second team.

I just checked and it is gilmour s second team. I wouldn't be surprised if fenwick wins this thing. I bet this is the last year of the tourny.

Illinois Teams

No score for this post
May 6 2013, 7:11 PM

Maybe the top Illinois Teams should return to this tournament because you now have the top Ohio [Cleveland] Federation/USA Dual Schools, top Eastern Pa [FC Finalists and FC Semis] and Top Western Pa schools [3 Penguins Cup final 4], top Indiana schools [Champs and Finalists] and some other nice teams as well. The tournament is pretty close to getting bites on some New Jersey Prep and Public schools as well, which will happen over the next few years.

New Trier won the NISS a couple of times and those teams were powerhouses and won Illinois the same year. They also lost to Broward Prep [Florida]. GB North (5 years], St Rita [twice], Fenwick [5 years] and Prairie Ridge [4 years] are pretty good programs but none of them ever won the NISS tournament. So if Illinois dominated the tournament and won every year, I would agree woth you.

The best USA Hockey Club schools are from Illnois, Pennsylvania, Indiana, and used to be New York until they went AAU.

At least tournament has competition, unlike the USA Hockey National Championship, were New Trier beat a Western Pa team Shaler and another Illinois Team GBN and Florida [North Broward] after winning prelim games by 4 - 8 goals against some really weak teams from Utah, Arizona, South Carolina, Idaho, and other weak states. They stopped going to the USA National as did the Western Pa team after the first year.

LaSalle [2012 Pa Champs and 2011 & 2013 Finalists] from Eastern Pa go every year in December to Rhoda Island and beats and competes even with Mt St Charles [RI Champs], Bishop Guertin [NH Champs], Fairfield Prep [Conn Champs] and some Mass Super 8 schools. Pennsylvania teams can compete very well.

Here is the breakdown of the 2013 Tournament as we will have 20 schools [we currently have 18 committed]:

UPDATE 5-05-2013 ~ 18 Schools have committed for the 2013 NISS including Ontario (2), Eastern Pennsylvania (2), Erie (1), Illinois (1), Indiana (2), Ohio (4) Maryland (1) and Western Pennsylvania (5).

Jeff-good luck to you on filling your tournament. My middle son played out there a couple of times and was on that New Trier team that played St Francis in the finals which was a terrific game.

You have a great tourny, at least back then. For some reason hockey overall appears to taken a couple steps back at least here in Illinois. I'm not sure how you are selecting these teams as it has to be hard today to know who is going to be strong in Nov.

A tourny of top HS teams from Michigan, Minny and IL versus a bunch of schools from the MWPHL would certainly be a good idea. Like you said, New Trier hasnt won it every year but there has been a bunch of lopsided games and to head out there to meet GBN in the finals is a waste of gas and time.

Spruce that old girl up!!!!

Thanks we are now heading toward 20 schools as we now have 19 with 5 bracktes, We will play Friday and Saturday for the preliminary round with Quarter Finals Saturday NIght with 8 schools advancing aith 5 Division Winners and 3 Wild Cards. This will promote interest to have a 4th game for 8 schools out of 20 and then a 6 game maximum. This will create more excitement for the schools who lose their first game to gain a Wild Card spot.

In addition, we are going to attempt to Webcast all of the games out of Jamestown like we did the first couple of years, which is real popular for the schools coming from out of town and the parents, relatives and friends cannot make it. Stay tuned for that.

Jeff is actually a registered sex offender who goes to online message boards to creep and lure young boys to Jamestown, NY. You can search under his real name Jeff Bloom, and find him registered. The live streaming will actual be towards child pornagraphy sites.

Jeff uses high school hockey tournaments as a vehicle to recruit young boys. The more teams the better.

Sorry to blow your cover Jeff. It was a good run. Expect an encounter from Chris Hansen, as he tells you "Jeff, grab a seat. No please, grab a seat".

2013 National Invitational Scholastic Showcase

Hi Everyone !

Please make sure you read the information below as we now have preliminary committments from 20 schools for the 2013 National Invitational Scholastic Showcase. We are in the process of securing ice time at Mercyhurst College [located 35-40 minutes from Jamestown] to hold 6 Preliminary Round Games on Saturday December 6th. All Schools copied on this E-Mail are included in our Preliminary Committment List.

With twenty schools, our committment will be to hold the Quarter-Finals on Saturday Night and Semi-Finals and Finals on Sunday. This means the Five Bracket Winners and Three Wildcard Schools will advance to Saturday Night's Quarter-Final Games. We will be releasing the Preliminary Schedule in early June and will honor scheduling requests at that time.

In addition, it is our intention to Webcast LIVE all of the games at Jamestown Savings Bank Arena to benefit those who cannot make the trip to Jamestown/Erie and will be available after the tournament for viewing for players, coaches, parents and fans. This will be a free service to the to the Tournament as we will attempt to have sponsorship to subsidize the coverage. Details will be released soon on our Webscasting venture through our Chicago and Pittsburgh partners.

Please if you have not already sent in your Advanced Registration and Deposit, please do so to secure your spot in the NISS. We will continue to take inquiries of schools until we have full financial committment from 20 schools and Waiting List. Should you have any questions, please let me know

Jeff
