Response to Re: The Advantage
Regardless of what they call themselves, "Family Advisors", Agents, Scouts, etc....Anything a player or their family receives gratis, can be a violation of NCAA D1 rules and may cause ineligibility. (We've certainly heard about many situations recently in D1 Football programs). To be sure, if they give a player an "evaluation", Low or free ice time or training costs, or free sticks and gear, it could be a problem if going the collegiate route. The best thing to do is ask coaches or others familiar with the process and the people and pay fair value for the service/merchandise and keep the receipts. The Advisors do offer valuable advice, but keep in mind it is their business to see a professional contract signed in order to cash in on their services performed.
