"""Please explain why the goal for most USHL players is to get a D1 scholarship, and then why the NHL teams prefer that their draft choices play OHL over D1 or USHL.(EX. J.Moore having the BlueJackets telling him no to Colorado College and sending him to the OHL Kitchner Rangers.)"""
1)Playing around 80 games (inclding playoffs) against top competition in the O would suit the NHL team's view of development more than a mid 30's game NCAA season against "lesser overall talented" teams.
2)USHL players play for D1 scholarships because that is a great fall back option that is still available to them. If they go straight to the O, they will never play wearing that college sweater. That option is lost in the O. A player from the USHL may be playing for a NCAA scholarship. For many, the next goal is to get drafted. Some feel NCAA is not right for them and then go to the O. They key here is that for a USHL player college is still an option.
