The past 2 games came down to 40 players who made up Team Lackey & Team Rogger. Each team consisted of 20- 2 goalies, 6 defensemen and 12 forwards. IDK if anyone out there in cyber world was able to watch the final games?

I wasn't able to , but what I was able to watch of the main camp (which wasn't much), was some pretty good hockey! It had a little of everything- speed, skating, stickhandling, good passing, some good defensive plays, hitting, etc.

In one of the games I saw, Green Bay's Ryan Belonger scored which displayed some nice little "tic tac toe" passing involving teammates Zachary Lokey (Apple Core) & Petrus Sipila (Detroit Little Ceasars U-18).

Ashwaubenon's Wes Wauters had a good showing. I recall one time he was in front of the opposing team's net (with his back to the goalie) stick handling with 3 opponents swarming around him before he was able to pass it out.

Wauter's line scored this one goal which was a sight to see. Starting from their own end, a defenseman passed the puck out from the corner to Edina High School (MN) Anders Lee who was out high in the slot. Lee passed the puck over to his right to Wes Wauters, and the 2 skated through the neutral zone. (At that point it was a 2 on 2 if I remember correctly).

Just was Wauters & Lee crossed into the opposing team's zone, Wauters fed the puck back to Lee- although Lee was covered. However, Lee did a really nice drop pass to teammate Alex Broadhurst (Tm Illinois U-16), who came streaking behind from Lee's left. Broadhurst cut towards the net & slid the puck back over to Wauters who fired a shot down low on Kyle Laslo (Detroit Belle Tire U-18) and scored.

There was one fight in that period when the score was 2-2. Matt Stewart of Detroit Little Ceasars U-18 was on the same team with Wauters & Belonger. Stewart was taken by the Gamblers in this past year's Entry Draft. Stewart squared off with Connor Gaarder of Edina High School MN. (Majority of Michigan's top skaters play Midget AAA, while as we know Minnesota's play High School.)

What was "different" was it was really quiet in the rink when it happened. Usually that's when all the fans would be going crazy- but not in this case. I'm pretty sure it was Stewart who got Gaarder's jersey over his head when the 2 first dropped the gloves and squared off- but then the refs stepped in, stopped the fight, and pulled Gaarder's jersey back in place. Then let the 2 resume their fight!

Anyway they both landed some punches in a fight that actually went about a minute. Again, because it was real quiet in a situation where you would have vocal fans, you could hear the sound of knuckles hitting the face. The refs stepped in when one of the guys fells to his knees and you could see the 2 give this gesture to each other like "Good fight- way to be tough." They each got a "One minute roughing penalty!!!"

Later in the game, Wauters took a real nice cross ice pass, skated deep into the other team's zone, looked up like he was going to take the "bad angle shot," but instead while looking at the net, threw a nice backhanded pass all the way back to Nicholas Marsh (Det Little Ceasars U-18) who fired a shot from the top of the face off circle. His shot went over the shoulder of Goalie Laslo (Detroit Belle Tire U-18) for the goal (made it 4-2 at the time.) Laslo's only a year group '92. He looked pretty good out there and has a bright future.

Green Bay Notre Dame's Tony Kujava played in net on the same team with Wauters & Belonger. They won that game 5-3. I noted one nice save Kujava made when he found himself looking at a 2 on 0- Gambler's Nick Jensen beat the defenseman & passed it over to Levi Houlkes (Nijmegan Devils, Netherlands) and Kujava saved the shot by Houlkes at "point blank range".

I do know for the final 40 players left in the tryouts, Wauters & Belonger advanced. So did Milwaukee Jr Admirals Jose Padilla. As far as who else was left- about 11 were Entry/Futures Draft selections of the Gamblers, and 7 were returning Gamblers players (actually 8, but Fond du Lac's Sean Little was listed as injured). The rest, there were 4 from Detroit area Midget AAA teams, 1 from Sweden, 2 from a MN high schools & 2 from Shattuck St Mary's Prep, the rest various Midget AAA programs.
