DUBUQUE, Iowa – The Fighting Saints remained busy in the USHL trade market today, acquiring Cody Bradley from the Indiana Ice in exchange for forward John Doherty. Bradley, a 5’9”, 150 pound left wing, is a native of Tampa, Florida, and a USHL veteran despite being only 17 years old. Last season with the Ice, Bradley scored 11 goals and 20 points in 51 games. In sixteen games this season, he has added three goals and eight points.

Fighting Saints Head Coach Jim Montgomery is hopeful that Bradley can add to the team’s playmaking ability – a need that he partially addressed last week with the acquisition of Jono Davis from Cedar Rapids.

“Cody brings high-end creativity, hockey sense, and skill. He will help our scoring lines,” he said.

Doherty won a Clark Cup with the Fighting Saints last season, and has tallied four goals and four assists for the Fighting Saints in eighteen games this season. Montgomery said that it was exceptionally difficult to part with Doherty.

“It was an extremely tough decision to give up a player who helped us win a championship last season, but this is a decision that we believe will make our team better in the end,” he said. “John Doherty is the epitome of what Fighting Saints hockey is about. It’s very tough to lose a player with high-end character like John has, but we believe that this addresses a need of our team.”

Bradley will make his debut tonight for the Fighting Saints against Cedar Rapids. The puck drops at 7:05 p.m. in Dubuque. Tickets are available at DubuqueFightingSaints.com, by calling (563) 583-6880, and at the Mystique Community Ice Center Box Office.
