| Lets get this Forum back on track, and send a shout out to the Steel. After the season they had last year, they are currently on a 4 game win streak 1 against 1st place Greenbay, 1 against 2nd place Indiana and 2 against 4th place Youngstown. Always nice to see a team bounce back from adversity. |

Yes they are fantastic!!! 7th place out of 8 teams. 27pts. Ya baby. Only 3rd worst team in the league. Only player that stands out is Miller. I take 3 of whatever your taking. |

They have more wins than all of last year. You will make a dry wine with your sour grapes, or did they not draft your little Johnny? |

Actually my son didn't get drafted by them thank goodness. Most players there would be happier on an NAHL team. From ownership to Coaches the Steel is a Joke. |

The NA or the USHL hummmm let me see. Where do players go when they get sent down from the USHL? Thats right, to the NAHL. Don't get me wrong the NAHL is not a bad league, but don't try to sell that a player would RATHER be in the NA than the USHL. |
|
Anonymous (no login) 67.184.169.5 | Re: RiiiiiiiiightNo score for this post | February 3 2012, 3:47 PM |
NAHL teams at best will have 3-5 players at the end of the year committed to D1 schools. Many Nahl teams will not even have one. The Steel has had a total of 9 player commits to d1 schools after the season has started. I think they have a total of 12 all together committed right now. |

Ya they are so amazing. They need a coach and an ownership group that cares about the players. Until they learn that they will lose, lose, lose. |

The Steel have not had a ton of success in the USHL, but even as a low-end USHL organization, pleas do not ever say playing on an NAHL team would be a better situation for a player. The USHL is THE place to play if you want to move up to D-1 and be an impact player. The NAHL sends a few 20-21 year old players, typically to D-1. What coaches are finding is the players in many cases have reached a peak and do not improve much. They then have 24-25 year old kids playing on the fourth line. This is not a good situation for colleges. The USHL will get younger and the NAHL will send even less to D-1 in the future. |

Greg
While it appears you have some knowledge that theory mostly aplies to goalies. Players that measure up come from USHL first, BCHL next,AJHL and OPJHL 3rd followed by NAHL. These are the D1 players and typically how and where thet choose players from. Regardless of the league if you can play college recruiters will find you. The Steel however are still the laughing stock of the USHL and it is strictly because the front office has no clue. Best of luck to them as they are gonna need it.
Been there done that. |

"The Steel however are still the laughing stock of the USHL"
What? The bootom line is: if any of your sons is playing for Steel he has the chance for D1 offer!.Isn't this the ultimate goal? Now how many of your kids can play on this team ?,Hello ! Most will not make it!You know how many HS or AA players would kill to make this team.. If my kid plays there someday then quess what, I am happy regardless even if they are in the last place.New season will bring new guys and things will turn around. |

I agree the Steel is doing better, but in your breakdown you include teams from the West, and do not have the number 2 and 3 teams, Lincoln and Waterloo listed at all? I can go along with group 1, but group 2 would need to get ALOT bigger. |

So, last night (April 4th), with a shootout loss in Indiana, the Steel were finally eliminated from the post-season. However, they outlasted Muskegon and Sioux Falls, and could wind up drafting as low as 5th overall in this year's entry draft.
While missing the playoffs shows losing out on the ultimate goal, the culture has changed in Year One of the Scott McConnell Era, and I'd be amazed if the team doesn't see the playoffs next season. |

6 players will be leaving for D1. So that leaves 17 returning players. |
|
Anonymous (no login) 99.66.240.137 | Re: More than doubledNo score for this post | April 5 2012, 5:11 PM |
Seven players are leaving, as far as I know:
Michael Fallon: UMass Lowell
Andrew Miller: RIT
Ryan Trenz: Northern Michigan
Mathias Dahlstrom: Northern Michigan
Chris Joyaux: Miami (Ohio)
Bradley Shumway: RIT
Theo DiPauli: Union
More could get scholarships by season's end. |

So what if there are no "Sports" scholarships, if you know anything about the system, you would know that there are other ways to get finacial help to a student. How many sports scholarships do the Ivy League schools give out? Zero. So if they want your player you don't think they are going to set your tuition to be very favorable? Or would you say, I am not going to get a degree from Harvard because they don't give out sports scholarships. |
|
Anonymous (no login) 198.228.227.31 | Re: Horse CrapNo score for this post | April 6 2012, 7:39 AM |
RIT tution funding is exactly how Ivy league schools do it. You turn in in a FASA and financal records and they give you a rate they think is reasonable for your family's financal situation. Most times it works out better than a athletic scholarship. More than half of hockey scholarships are only 25%-50%. Almost no one get 100% anymore because teams need to spread out their funding wisely. 85% is considered a full ride today in hockey |

And then you have this small minded, doofis above saying "They dont have scholarships". Face it, the goal for every kid that plays competitive hockey, at a young age is the NHL. Well as they grow older the more realistic prize becomes playing D1. For someone to minimize that accompishment with the scholarships crap, really gets my goat. Can you tell? |

If I'm not mistaken, tuition is free if your family makes less than $50k a year at Harvard, so, I'd imagine it's around the same for RIT and the like. |

Harvard charges 10 % of a families income for those with a family income of lower than some number... maybe $50,000 |

You know I took a few minutes to read through some of the other topics in this forum and I have come to realize you really are an egotistical, Mr. Know it all A$$. Quite honestly I am bored with you and your comments. If anyone is a creeper or troll I would say you best fit the description.
Never once do I see you give "any" information that would actually help a single person. Then really, who would come here for any advice anyway.
