I've just signed-up on the new http://www.thecanoeist.com/forum/topics/canoeists-caring-for-park website's forum.

I made an ABR-focused posting ...
"As an executive member of a new recreational-users group for Algonquin Park (Canada), I'm curious about experiences others may have in their efforts to address concerns for other wilderness-type areas. Our group 'Algonquin Backcountry Recreationalists' is into its second year. We've met with park management, established a working relationship with them and have even participated in advisory processes. However, we remain new to the entire process and are still learning. I'd like to hear from other 'canoeists' who are in the same situation .. either experienced or just starting out like us."

The posting just got its first response .. a very informative one! I believe we can get both encouragement and instruction from "reaching-out" like this. Hopefully more such inter-group communications will follow.

Networking is definitely the answer. The more clubs we can interest the louder impact we can have with our government.
